Missing Twitters/updates
I have noticed that I am missing many of my friends' twitters/updates when I view them on my twitter home page. If I go directly to a friend's profile page and, for example, they have 4 twitters, I will only see 2 or 3 of those in my list. Why??

Also, this is the same problem causing the inability to follow or remove one of these people. However, please put your follow/leave reports in this thread, since it's different than not seeing the updates in your /home page:

Thanks!

I've noticed many of you are missing updates from people who have a ton of followers. Some examples are Scobleizer, ijustine, jasoncalacanis, leolaporte, hotdogsladies, veronica, etc.
In your cases, I can clear the caches but until we've fixed the root of the problem, it wont help forever, only for a little while.
The good news: our engineering team is working on this problem as we speak. We've realized that many people missing updates are followers of at least one profile/person of this type. (This type being, that which has a massive following, in the thousands.)
We hope to have it fixed soon, check this thread for more updates.

Friday PM update.
We've been narrowing down the problem and have made some additional changes which should make things better, but not fixed. We're still working on it here at Twitter HQ and folks are coming in tomorrow as well.
As Crystal pointed out, we're not going to consider it fixed until all the tests pass.
More information to come as it becomes available.

Friday AM Update
We fixed a major bug last night that we think contributed to some, but not all, of the lost updates. We're still making sure that all remaining anomalies are addressed before we consider it 100% fixed.
-We're working on it persistently again today; you will notice improvement, but not normalcy.
-We're not considering the bug "fixed" until all of our tests have completed and we're sure that all updates are appearing.
Thanks for your patience; further updates will be posted here throughout the day.
I’m looking forward to a fix

Official update: our engineering team has been working on this problem as top priority steadily for the last two days; we're still working on it today, and will continue working on it until it's fixed.
The bad news: the problem isn't completely fixed yet.
The good news: we've made headway, and it's much, much better. Fewer and fewer updates are missing from timelines once we manually clear the caches for you. I am clearing the caches for everyone in this thread.
A manual cache clear is the interim solution until the bug is entirely fixed. However, while this will restore more updates to your time line, not all updates will be there. Additionally, we've seen the following results:
-though some updates are revealed, others go missing
-clearing the cache is a temporary fix, and afterward, updates may go missing again. however, the number of missing updates will be fewer.
We're making progress on getting this bug fixed-- I'll post more frequent updates to keep you abreast of the situation. Sorry guys, and thanks for being patient!
I’m working on it!

Hi Guys,
The whole team looks at the topics posted in Satisfaction; we're trying to find out what's going on.
Usually it's a caching problem, but it could be related to the move; at this point, we're not sure why, but we're checking it out. In the meantime, in case it is a caching issue, I've cleared all of your caches, and you should now see all updates in your time lines and /home.
If you're still missing updates from a particular person, it's possible that I need to clear their cache as well, so please send the user names to Support, with "missing updates" in the subject line of your email for quick attention:
support@twitter.com
I'll post more updates here as information is available.
Thanks!
Crystal

Everyone's caches have been flushed as of this morning. Is anyone still seeing problems?
I’m wondering if there is a deeper fault for this issue.

I'm doing a rolling clear of all caches right now. It will take a bit to process but check back soon. I'll update when it's finished to make sure all issues are cleared up!
I’m Happy that this will fix things for people!

Hey all,
we're really sorry this bug took so long to fix, and affected so many of you. We've been hard at work for the past several days trying to track it down, and as of about 7:30 PM PST, we fixed a major issue with our internal messaging servers, and it looks like the problem is solved.
We'll be clearing caches pro-actively to make sure you have the most accurate view possible.
Thank you very much for your patience through this.

Thank you for your patience!
Jack.

Inappropriate?I only follow a small number of people also, and I am having the same timeline problem. When using @twhirl as well as looking on the website. However, when I view pages of people that I am following, they have actually been tweeting.
I’m sad and frustrated. This is obviously a big deal somewhere in the system.
-
Inappropriate? This is happening worse than before. In both Twitter homepage, and Twhirl, 4/18 through 4/21, many tweets never showed up in my stream. And I don't follow any mega users.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm not getting any tweets - and i only follow a half dozen people
-
Inappropriate? Not sure if this is related, I have a problem in IE& (Firefox is ok) which caches the flash plugin i copied from the twitter site so you only see the twitters at the time of the first load - if you then clear out the cache and open a new window etc you get the latest comments. Is there a way to prevent IE7 from caching so i get live twitter updates?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?im having a similar problem. ive never missed an update on my mobile from msgs on my twitter site until late last week when i stopped getting all the msgs delivered to my mobile. now i seem to be getting only approx 1 in 4 delivered to my device. im only in a circle of 9 people, and none of which have a heavy load of followers. it seems my whole circle has the same problem also. username is himoore.
I’m irritated
-
Inappropriate?I haven't gotten any updates via IM in a week or two. Very annoying. Username is heemstra.
-
Inappropriate?I'm also having this problem. Last noticed today, and most days to date. Cursory analysis seems to show that tweets from people I'm following starting with "@user" are not being shown in my /home.
[Ed] I should add, this is problematic to log comprehensively; if the tweets don't show I only notice when friends follow-on from a previous tweet, and I go to their page to investigate and compare.
To log this bug, it might be useful to have a tool that checks tweets from a given account are appearing in followers' streams, perhaps by timestamp. -
Jon, are those missing @user messages by any chance addressed to people that you're not following yourself? If yes, that's the default setting for Twitter's @replies, i.e., "show me @replies addressed to the people I'm following". You can change the setting in http://twitter.com/account/notifications -
mdy: Thanks for the tip. The one I spotted today was to someone I wasn't following so I've changed the setting, thanks :) However, I'm pretty sure that others have been absent recently without @user in at all, and from people I'm mutually following. I'll try and log them myself when I notice. Cheers. -
Inappropriate?I hope you don't mind my bumping this thread, but I was suprised to see a tweet from @trevypoos on my wife's 'home' timeline (since she follows him as well), but not mine! It kinda makes me wonder how many other tweets I've missed...
This is the tweet that never turned up, incidentally:
http://twitter.com/trevypoos/statuses...
It's not a reply.. it's simply not there (nor is it on my m.twitter.com feed)! I'm worried that I'm missing out on (a small percentage of) the fun!
I’m perturbed
