Missing Twitters/updates
I have noticed that I am missing many of my friends' twitters/updates when I view them on my twitter home page. If I go directly to a friend's profile page and, for example, they have 4 twitters, I will only see 2 or 3 of those in my list. Why??

Also, this is the same problem causing the inability to follow or remove one of these people. However, please put your follow/leave reports in this thread, since it's different than not seeing the updates in your /home page:

Thanks!

I've noticed many of you are missing updates from people who have a ton of followers. Some examples are Scobleizer, ijustine, jasoncalacanis, leolaporte, hotdogsladies, veronica, etc.
In your cases, I can clear the caches but until we've fixed the root of the problem, it wont help forever, only for a little while.
The good news: our engineering team is working on this problem as we speak. We've realized that many people missing updates are followers of at least one profile/person of this type. (This type being, that which has a massive following, in the thousands.)
We hope to have it fixed soon, check this thread for more updates.

Where these all specifically @replies? I just put in a fix with some of our @reply code.

Everyone's caches have been flushed as of this morning. Is anyone still seeing problems?
I’m wondering if there is a deeper fault for this issue.

I'm doing a rolling clear of all caches right now. It will take a bit to process but check back soon. I'll update when it's finished to make sure all issues are cleared up!
I’m Happy that this will fix things for people!

Friday PM update.
We've been narrowing down the problem and have made some additional changes which should make things better, but not fixed. We're still working on it here at Twitter HQ and folks are coming in tomorrow as well.
As Crystal pointed out, we're not going to consider it fixed until all the tests pass.
More information to come as it becomes available.

Friday AM Update
We fixed a major bug last night that we think contributed to some, but not all, of the lost updates. We're still making sure that all remaining anomalies are addressed before we consider it 100% fixed.
-We're working on it persistently again today; you will notice improvement, but not normalcy.
-We're not considering the bug "fixed" until all of our tests have completed and we're sure that all updates are appearing.
Thanks for your patience; further updates will be posted here throughout the day.
I’m looking forward to a fix

Hey folks,
We apologize for how long this issue has been going on. We are aware of the issue, and we're dedicating all of our resources to fix it as soon as possible. Also, we'll do a better job at exposing what's happening and the current status of the fix. Look here and possibly our blog for updates.
Thank you for your patience!
Jack.

Official update: our engineering team has been working on this problem as top priority steadily for the last two days; we're still working on it today, and will continue working on it until it's fixed.
The bad news: the problem isn't completely fixed yet.
The good news: we've made headway, and it's much, much better. Fewer and fewer updates are missing from timelines once we manually clear the caches for you. I am clearing the caches for everyone in this thread.
A manual cache clear is the interim solution until the bug is entirely fixed. However, while this will restore more updates to your time line, not all updates will be there. Additionally, we've seen the following results:
-though some updates are revealed, others go missing
-clearing the cache is a temporary fix, and afterward, updates may go missing again. however, the number of missing updates will be fewer.
We're making progress on getting this bug fixed-- I'll post more frequent updates to keep you abreast of the situation. Sorry guys, and thanks for being patient!
I’m working on it!

Hi Guys,
The whole team looks at the topics posted in Satisfaction; we're trying to find out what's going on.
Usually it's a caching problem, but it could be related to the move; at this point, we're not sure why, but we're checking it out. In the meantime, in case it is a caching issue, I've cleared all of your caches, and you should now see all updates in your time lines and /home.
If you're still missing updates from a particular person, it's possible that I need to clear their cache as well, so please send the user names to Support, with "missing updates" in the subject line of your email for quick attention:
support@twitter.com
I'll post more updates here as information is available.
Thanks!
Crystal

Hey all,
we're really sorry this bug took so long to fix, and affected so many of you. We've been hard at work for the past several days trying to track it down, and as of about 7:30 PM PST, we fixed a major issue with our internal messaging servers, and it looks like the problem is solved.
We'll be clearing caches pro-actively to make sure you have the most accurate view possible.
Thank you very much for your patience through this.
blaine.

Inappropriate?I'm only seeing a few of one of my friend's updates, and even missed a reply (although it showed up in the reply tab). Another friend's tweets are not showing up at all, although it still shows that I'm following him on the following tab.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? This is happening to me over the past few days. Thought it was quiet on Twitter until I looked at my friends pages and they had been tweeting, only I wasn't receiving them!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm also missing tweets from friends, and on checking my replies tab (thanks to GoOrange's comment), I see a number of replies to me which are also not showing up. I'm missing normal tweets, @ replies between people I follow (both of whom I follow - and settings are to "all @ replies"), and @ replies to me. I'm also not getting direct messages or @ replies on my mobile phone.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, I'm seeing, like, TWO people's updates out of my ten or so friends - most of whom I find ARE updating when I actually go to their page. This just started happening for me about two day ago.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?experiencing the same problem --- and so is everyone else I know who's currently using twitter.
what's weird is that removing ALL the people I am following and then re-adding one by one them puts them all back on there and I can see everyone... but if I add someone new, it goes back to square one.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm having the same problem — things show up differently between /home, m., and the API (read: clients). I tried the unfollow/follow trick to no avail: a friend just updated and it doesn't show up in the client I'm using, nor on /home nor m.twitter.com. I've noticed this since Saturday on a range of people — from @gruber to @bs (the distinction being a ton of followers vs not as many).
Frustrating.
I’m sad Twitter's broken.
-
Inappropriate?I unfollowed @s and every tweet (20+) I'd missed showed up. Don't know what this means.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate? That's probably just a temporary fix. Changing your friend list will clean the cache, but things tend to go wrong again later...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'll be sure to post again if I start noticing it mess up.
-
Inappropriate?I am having this problem as well. I am not receiving all my friends updates and nor are they receiving all of mine. Help.
I’m frustrated.
-
Inappropriate?I (and a lot of people I follow) are having this problem starting today. Lame.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Does anyone have an answer to this problem yet or is it being ignored by The Powers That Be?
Very frustrating... I've had people think I'm being rude but it turns out that I'm only receiving 50% of their tweets.
I’m disappointed & frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Same in Japan. The only information of this problem I can find is here, though it first time occurred for me several days ago. It seems somehow strange why this topic has been rarely shared... Or anyone already knows answer? I regret not having Japanese "geek " friend...
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Well... at least I am not alone. Is this going to be fixed??? It is getting hard to stay with Twitter at this point, between down times and now this.
I’m EXTREMELY frustrated.
-
Inappropriate?I'll me too this. Checked the replies tab and noticed over 10+ replies in the last 24 hours. Makes me wonder how many others I'm getting. I'm not consistently missing tweets from certain people, I'm randomly missing one here, another there. 100+ friends and it adds up.
Is anyone actually looking at this forum, or was this thrown up just for us to vent? Seems like this has become more of an issue since the recent move. Please can someone _actualy_ read this and let us know if you are looking into it (or acknowledge that we aren't posting to some place that's not been looked at).
This, BTW has nothing to do with the API, you can see the results from my home page. Look at my username (objo) and then the replies to me to see it. So please do not write this off as a third-party problem. Twitter is receiving their replies and linking them to me, just not putting them in my timeline.
I’m extremely frustrated as well
