My cellphone does not allow texting to short codes
I use Unicel on a Treo650. Unicel has said they do not and will not support short codes. So, for now, I have to fire up my mobile browser and go to mobile twitter. It works but a lot of extra keystrokes to get there.

Inappropriate?I also have a Treo650 and it's too expensive for me to use SMS to send to Twitter (since I'm in Asia).
So I rely on a software called TreoTwit, which is a little app you install on the Treo. It:
- is free
- stores your Twitter user id and password (masked)
- gives you a form for writing and submitting a tweet
- keeps track of the number of characters you've used so you don't go over 140
- takes care of connecting and disconnecting from GPRS
See what it looks like and download from here: TreoTwit Site
I’m really happy with TreoTwit

Inappropriate? Can't use short codes on my Sidekick either. Twittermail (.com) to my phone's email address works, but it's a little more cumbersome than directly SMSed updates would be.
I’m disappointed, but at least it's something.

Inappropriate?Unicel does support SOME short codes (like Google, for example) but they have to setup a relationship with the company, which requires some work. I'm sure they aren't leaping to add more, now that they are selling to VZN and ATT. (Word has it that ATT will own Unicel VT by this summer...so support should come then.)
I’m excited that ATT, despite their spying, will be coming to VT.
