Inappropriate? Here are a few things you can try to help with troubleshooting:
1. Go to http://twitter.com/devices (you'll need to login). Could you check if your phone is verified, and if notifications are set to ON?
2. Go to your home page (http://twitter.com/home) and check the sidebar to see if your Received SMS is already 250/250. If yes, then you've reached the maximum number of sms allowed this week, and you'll just need to wait until the new week starts to receive another 250 free sms.
3. Still on your home page, could you check the sidebar to see if notifications are set to SMS, IM, or web-only. You'll need to set it to SMS before you can receive messages.
If all of the above are okay, then please use your phone to send 'ON' to Twitter and see what happens. If your phone is properly set up, you should get an sms response saying that 'notifications are now on' (and hopefully that will be enough to fix it).
I’m not sure this will help, but figured I'd share just the same...

Inappropriate? Finally figured out my problem: It turns out that those you follow default to "off" for device updates. You have to manually turn each feed on.
I’m Happy to have found a solution, but perplexed as to why it was so hard to find...

that can't be true, because i have none of my following set to device: on but still recieved sms updates. Even from people i didn't follow i got sms update by tracking my own username for all the @replies.
Now i don't get any sms update, but devices are set to phone, set to on and on my phone i get a confirmation that i am really tracking and everything is set to ON... also i'm on 1/250 sms..
So i still don't know what the hell is wrong :( and i'm missing alot of my @replies bypassing this by going to the webpage everytime
Anyone with solutions?!?! :( please -
Inappropriate?Ive checked my device status AND i've got 0/250, but still no SMSs. Help!
I’m sad that i cant get any twitter sms updates

Inappropriate?Hi theiof. Track via sms has been offline for quite some time. It was brought back briefly on Jun 7 but was taken offline again on Jun 11.
You can see the current status at the Twitter Status blog -- Track is highlighted in red in the sidebar, with the comment "Offline. Needs reworking"
I think that's why you're not getting @replies on your phone anymore.
Unfortunately, there's no announced timeline yet for when Track will be brought back online. They've said many times that IM remains their priority, so I expect IM will be brought back online before we see Track online again. -
Inappropriate?I saw your update 15 minutes ago at another topic about this problem. Thank alot for the info!! It's just that you know where the problem lies, instead of knowing nothing, is a big relief.
Still too bad it's offline, but confidence in the twitter team that there gonna fix it, hopefully soon...
although twitterific on the iPhone will be able to push updates through there app on the iphone, and i got an iphone... then i won't be needing it anymore ;)
thnx alot again
I’m happy i know the answer, but sad because it's an unsolved problem still

Inappropriate? My sms notifications just suddenly stopped this morning. Got one at 9:34 a.m. and then nothing. I have removed my device and added it back three times. I have sent the "on" command. Nothing. All my friends are still getting their notifications normally.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I've been having intermittent problems with SMS updates and I'm not receiving all updates posted by people I follow with device updates turned on. It's not that I receive updates from some and not others, but that I'm receiving only some of the posts they make. Anyone experiencing similar problems, or is there a thread I haven't found about this?
thanks!
I’m agrieved

Inappropriate?shrinkydinky:
Have you set a Sleep period in Settings - Devices?
You shouldn't receive any Twitter SMS during this time.
Further, I've occasionally seen tweets with the incorrect time stamp (sender's local time rather than my local time). I suspect that if the incorrect time falls within my sleep period, I won't receive these SMS, either.
Your @Replies setting in Settings - Notices may prevent you receiving SMS from people you're following whenever they direct @replies to people you don't follow. -
Inappropriate? No sleep periods set (that was my first thought, that I'd inadvertently activated sleep) and the messages don't necessarily contain @replies, plus I get many other updates to my mobile featuring @replies from people I don't follow.

Inappropriate?Hi shrinkydinky. This one is a long shot, so I hope you'll bear with me -- Do sms notifications stop for periods of time and resume again soon after you send an sms update of your own?
I ask this because Twitter apparently automatically disables sms delivery if it believes the sms messages aren't getting to you successfully. (See this reply from @crystal in another thread for details)
It seems that Twitter also automatically resumes sms delivery if it hears from your phone (either by you posting an update or sending a direct msg, or by simply sending ON or HELP).
I experience this myself every couple of months, when I am in an area with no or low signal for short periods. When I get back to signal range I have to send ON for sms delivery to resume.

mdy: Your shot wasn't so very long after all! 8-) -
Inappropriate?looks like that could be it. i received an update late last night then turned my phone off, and haven't received an update since. tweets i've made today have been via twitterfox and the web. I've just sent the ON message and the missing tweets are flooding in! thnx
I’m ecstatic

shrinkydinky, thanks for your feedback! Yes, if you're using Twitter's long international number for SMS, Twitter will disable SMS delivery whenever it discovers your phone can't receive because it happens to be switched off at the time.
