My Twitter account has disappeared!
As of this evening, my Twitter account seems to have disappeared. I can't login, and I can't see my public twitter page at http://twitter.com/kweiner. According to TweetScan.com and Summize.com, my last tweet was on 5/30/2008 even though I've been texting tweets ever since.
I tried to reset my password via https://twitter.com/account/resend_pa... but it just tells me that it can't find my account:"Oh, snap! We couldn't find you!".
Is my data lost forever?

Thanks mdy, I did file a bug on http://twitter.com/help/. Hopefully I'll get some kind of response soon. I hope they have database backups. I'd hate to have to create a new identity and reconnect with all my followers/followees again. -
It's been my experience that they reply within a couple of working days. In your case, though, it may take a while since it sounds like this requires quite some investigation. I hope they fix it soon. -
This morning I tried texting a tweet "I no longer exist on Twitter!" from my phone. Twitter texted back, asking me to reply with my username. I replied with "kweiner". As a result, I now see this one tweet on http://twitter.com/kweiner, but all my followers/followees are still gone and I can't login. Twitter must have just replaced my account which means I have to start all over. I hope I didn't make things worse. I am just going to leave it alone until I get a response from them. -
Well, on the bright side, this at least means you've reserved your username because no one else can take it while your newly created account exists. 8-) -
Inappropriate?By the way, when your account is restored, you may want to try using @bck's TweetDumpr to make an offline archive of all your tweets.
This doesn't help in any way to rebuild your friends and followers lists, but at least you've got a copy of everything you've ever tweeted in a .csv file. -

"Thanks for your email. This is a bug; we're working on fixing it. I'll be in touch with you when we've resolved it. Sorry about that, and thanks for your patience!"

I do suggest (if you haven't yet done so) that you click on the "View the complete history of this request" link in the upper right corner of the email, and add a new note to let them know that you had inadvertently created a new account with the same name.

Inappropriate?It has been 5 days since the first response to my support request and I'm still without my Twitter account. I'm curious if any of the others that said they have the same problem as me have received any support from Twitter. If so, please post here.

Actually, I have gotten a few e-mails from Twitter about this. The first couple seemed automated, like 'We're working on your ticket', but then I got a couple of personal ones telling me that they've discovered this bug that's eating accounts, and one offering a free t-shirt for my trouble. I don't know if it was because I used GS, or because I e-mailed them/posted on the site, though. But I'm homeful. -
Inappropriate?I finally gave up on waiting for Twitter to solve my problem. I decided to just sign up again with the same username that Twitter had deleted. Luckily it was still available. Unfortunately, I've lost the 200+ tweets from my account and I have to start all over again with following people and having people follow me. Maybe someday, Twitter will restore my old data, but I hope they're smart enough to do it without wiping out my data from today forward!

I've lost my account for over a month now, and while the Twitter support staff appear to be relatively responsive, they're still asking me for stupid things like a list of my followers and following. Well, if only I had known Twitter would crash on me, I'd have backed everything up.
