New and improved nudge behavior
Before this week, it was unclear that nudging only works for accounts with devices enabled. For example, if I sent Biz a nudge hoping that he'd update his Twitter, he'd only receive it if he had a phone registered, and his phone was on. If those things weren't true, I wouldn't know Biz didn't get my nudge, and may've thought he was ignoring me. (Awww!)
In the pursuit of clarity, we've decided to display the "nudge" link only if it's possible for the person to receive it. Going forward, you will only see the nudge link on a profile if the person you'd like to nudge:
* is following you
* has a registered phone with notifications set to ON
* does not have a "sleeping" phone (some people set sleep times on phones to avoid messages during beauty sleep. Sleep time will always be honored, nudges or no!)
You can nudge and be nudged via the nudge command: that is, by sending nudge + user name (for example: nudge ev) from your phone, from the web box, or from API applications that support Twitter's SMS commands. Nudging is also possible from the profile sidebar actions via the nudge link.
Check out our knowledgebase page for more information, or write support@twitter.com with questions.

Inappropriate?Wait, I thought it was going to change the Nudge link would only show if that hadn't tweeted in 24-ish? So, why only phone? Howz about an email nudge option? Who's the CPO anyway?! {:~)
I’m smarter now

Inappropriate?Mr Crystal,
Can you confirm if the search bar in the pic is a new feature you've added or is a script like this one: http://www.joshrussell.com/2008/07/18...

CNet & Mashable are going WILD over a potential new feature. I'm pretty sure it's a script running on a Mac.
I’m speculating
-
It only makes sense that it's a new feature. Twitter spent $15M on Summize, and all of the attention it's getting is a little tiny link in the footer (and the header of E08). It needs to be integrated into the main site more. I'd like to see a confirmation, though. :)
Oh, and if cnet & mashable would love that, I'm sure they'd like activity a lot more... ;) -
Inappropriate? Also, regarding the search bar... this was in Twitter's blog post about the Summize acquisition:

... so much for this thread being about the new nudge behavior. ;) -
Inappropriate?I understand, I think, how nudge works. My situation is as follows. A friend has her cell # registered and on, I have mine registered and set to on. She is set to follow me and I follow her twitter updates. She can see the nudge link on my page but I cannot see it on hers. What might the reason be that "nudge" is not appearing on her page? Thanks.

Hope you don't mind my asking -- is the nudge thing still not working for you? If yes, does deleting the phone and starting over again help? -
Inappropriate?I did delete the phone and start over. The nudge link did not appear...at first. I manually sent a nudge via direct message and coincidentally or otherwise, the nudge link did appear afterward so whatever the reason, whether it was the manual nudge via message or the nudge link just takes a while to show up, it's working now. Thanks for asking!

Good to know it works now (even though the solution is a mystery!). 8-) -
Inappropriate?I still can't see a nudge link, and I meet all the reqs...person is following me, et al.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?I didn't do anything but eventually the nudge link appeared. Don't know the reason for the delay or what condition must be satisfied. Maybe try manually nudging from your phone to activate the link?
