New Unofficial Twitter Command: HT (Hat-Tip)
One of the most widely used unofficial Twitter “commands” is the RT @Username syntax for re-sending (Re-Tweeting) an interesting Tweet or link from another Twitter user.
I would like to suggest that Twitter semi-officially support the introduction of a new HT @Username syntax. The HT (Hat-Tip) operator would be used to give credit to another Twitter user for highlighting an interesting Tweet, URL, Friend or other resource, but without having to Re-Tweet or include the original message.

Inappropriate?I saw it used today and found this post by googling it. This is fantastic, as I always feel like not citing ppl correctly by editing a tweet when I RT. Nice!
I’m excited

That’s great! Thanks for feeding back. I’m hoping that the use of HT for a hat-tip will “go viral” in the way that you’re describing.
