No "Older" link
Twitter is no longer showing the "Older" link on the web. I can still get to older tweets by hacking the URL, but why should I have to?

Inappropriate?Hi @amandafrench
Which page are you referring to where you don't see the "Older" link?
When I go to your page, I do see the "older" link. http://twitter.com/amandafrench
But on the "With Others" page, there's no "older link and that's by design. http://twitter.com/amandafrench/with_... -
Inappropriate? When I click on the "Older" link there's no "Older link." :) What I mean is, when I page back through my older tweets, the "Older" link disappears. For me it's currently gone on http://twitter.com/home?page=3 Sorry I wasn't clearer; I did take a screenshot but couldn't attach it.
Thanks for FAST reply!!!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?HI @amandafrench,
Ah! Thanks for clarification. I see what you're referring to now.
Weird, I can keep going "Older" until page 10 on my account (http://twitter.com/home?page=10). Then the "Older" link disappears and only "Newer" on the last page #10 -
Inappropriate? This is a bug we're aware of. It's really tricky. You'll notice that eventually the missing older link will eventually move back to page 2 of your /home and will re-appear on page 1. It's quite strange.

@goldtoe - thanks for chiming in and providing the update, i thought it was jsut b/c I couldn't reproduce what @amandafrench was seeing. Good luck to the Twitter team on solving this one. -
Inappropriate?I have been frustrated by this all day. Older and newer buttons on bottom of the page disappear. I have been adding the page# to the URL in order to see back pages and on some of those I have older/newer buttons. Some of my followers/following have also stated they are having this same issue.
Thanks! I know you'll look into this quickly. You always do.
I’m frustrated
-
I'm having the same problem, but some of my twitter friends are not... what up with that? -
Inappropriate? One more having the same problem. Logging out/back doesn't help.
I did see, as Gold toe said, that it can reappear on page 2, then be gone again.
I'm wondering if it is related to 'script error' that appeared in the same time frame. If I can replicate the message, I will post it here. -
Inappropriate?I've been having the same problem off and on for days. Hitting refresh tends to only bring it back as far as page 2.
-
Inappropriate? This is happening to me too and it's sad because it's a pain to hack to read older posts....
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?and why did this create a new profile when it should be linking to me here:

Inappropriate?I can not get to older tweets, the older button no longer exists at the bottom. pls help
I’m over it
-
Inappropriate?I just signed up for TWITTER and from what i understand my url should be http://twitter.com/yunlefu.....but it says http://twitter.com/twitter
Am i...doing something wrong? Am very upset and I followed instructions as stated.
I’m very confused/sad
-
Inappropriate? It is happening to me too, but on my home page - no way to change the page #. I hope this gets resolved quickly. Not being able to see more than 15 minutes worth of Tweets is discouraging. On top of all of this, Twitter has been eating my tweets the last few days.
I’m frustrated and getting pissed
-
Inappropriate? It is annoying, but there IS a workaround. Go to the broser location bar and put in the page numbers to go backward and forward, like this:
http://twitter.com/home?page=2
Chage "2" to "3" and you'll see older tweets.

Inappropriate? No older link at all here. Negative. Nada. None.
I’m waiting for another fix (seems to be happening more and more?)
-
Inappropriate?Very strange, I'd be curious to learn what's causing it when you figure it out.
I’m not very badly affected, but very very curious
-
Inappropriate?Bummer, now mine is grayed out an unusable.
added the ?page= to address bar and that didn't work either. -
Inappropriate?I'm not getting much history now. I have at least 10 pages of history to go through per day!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I can only get back to pg 2, everything else (including adding the ?page=) will only take me back to page 2. When I try any other page number it takes me to the first page again. bummer - I have posts I missed & wanted to read but haven't been able to!
I’m tired of this
-
Inappropriate?Hi I know Twitter will routinely disable pagination whenever they're having technical problems, as they did yesterday when they lost a database server. But they usually restore it after things stabilize.
Fwiw, I just tried now and I'm able to page through older pages until p.10. I can't go older than that, though, even if I try to change the page number in the URL by hand.
If you're still unable to go past p.2, my suggestion is that you log a support ticket at http://twitter.com/help -
Inappropriate?Fwiw, there's an update from @crystal re: the disabled "Older" button in another thread.
-
Inappropriate?-_- I have this same problem.
-
Inappropriate?Wow, you're lucky. You can't find old tweets. In my case, I terminated my account, and Twitter is holding my personal information hostage and posting it on their site. Yes, that's right!
If you terminate your account with Twitter, don't expect them to actually delete it. They will maintain your photo, your username, and URL, and continue to post it - even though you're terminated! It's worse than that. Contact support to remove it, they don't. Contact their privacy department to remove it, they don't. Come here to this site, where a reported 19 Twitter employees are here to help - they do nothing.
Twitter misrepresents facts to the point I'm calling them as I see them: LIES.
This company is deceptive and dishonest.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? Please do fix the problem!! I can't afford to lose my older tweets that record my every inspiring moments! Feel a part of me gone with the wind......
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?Um. My older button doesn't even work on my first page. is there any news on when this is going to be fixed? It seems the last update on the issue was three months ago. =[
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate? The older button has worked fine for me for weeks now (dare I say months?), and yet this morning not only doesn't that button work, hacking the URL doesn't, either. Ack! Help! :(
-
Inappropriate?Yes, I noticed the same thing. It has been working great for a while, then this morning. Greyed out older link. Blurg.
-
Inappropriate?Sigh, I'm getting so fed up of this! Sometimes I can get older pages when I 'follow' a new person, but it's only temporary. Pretty soon I'm back to a greyed out 'older' again.
This is taking a lot of the pleasure and usability out of Twitter for me.
-
Inappropriate?ps. what's meant by 'hacking the url', please?
-
Inappropriate? This just started for me this morning. I see here that for some of you it is more than a month old? Wow, I really hope this does not drag out, I'm already bummed!
-
Inappropriate?*Still* no solution. I wonder if this problem is being treated as a low priority because it only affects some of us and not everybody?
It's so difficult to follow the fast flowing Tweet interaction between my friends when I can only see one page.
I’m very, very disappointed
-
Inappropriate?I'm able to page back and forth. Can you hit SHIFT-F5 when you hit your Twitter homepage, and try it there? It may be caching the javascript.
I’m sympatheic
-
Inappropriate? This is really frustrating... I *still* don't have an older button, and I *still* can't get to older pages by manually changing the URL. And doing a SHIFT-F5 while I refresh doesn't change anything. I agree with PortiaDaCosta, that this isn't even being mentioned (let alone addressed) because it's not a system-wide problem.
And by "hacking the URL," I mean that at earlier times when the older button was MIA, you could change the normal home page URL from this:
http://twitter.com/home
to this:
http://twitter.com/home?page=2
And then change the 2 to a 3, and then a 4, etc., to get to older pages manually. But now, even that doesn't work.
I know Twitter is a free service, and it does annoy me when people come down so hard on you guys for something they're getting without paying a red cent... So I'm trying to be patient. It's just frustrating when this is clearly still an issue, and it's not even being mentioned on the blog or anything...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I think I would be prepared to *pay* a reasonable fee for Twitter if it meant that more resources could be applied to problems like this one.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hello? Twitter? Anyone home? The "older" button is still not working for me, and I still don't have any indication that you're even aware of the problem... Anyone? Anyone?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I think they're fully aware of the problem, but they don't really care because a] it only affects a small percentage of Tweeters and b] it's a free service, so there's no obligation to fix it because they don't owe us anything.
That's just how I see it. I could be judging overly Twitter harshly. But it does seem to have been going on a long, long time without any visible attempt to rectify the problem or any word about progress on fixing it, if indeed they *are* trying fix it.
I’m deeply disillusioned and disappointed
-
Inappropriate?I think you're right in some respects - because it isn't a system-wide issue, there really isn't the same urgency to address it either here or on the blog. But I've had good experiences with Twitter so far, in that they seem responsive to problems even if they take awhile to solve them... Whether we're paying or not! :) So, I'm just surprised now to see it go on so long without any acknowledgment, even, that there's an issue.
-
Inappropriate?I really think this is a major problem and still i have it for months now!
Shouldnt twitter be looking at it as a first priority problem ?
I think they really should!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Happened again, this morning and now this evening. Seems every time away from computer for a few hours ALL old tweets are erased. What is the point of the older button if you can't access even the previous page? Help please.
-
Inappropriate?A number of people have reported the same problem, but with their Favorites pages, i.e. the "Next" button has disappeared from the bottom of the page so there's no way to see their favorites past the first 20. Are these two problems related (i.e. no next updates and no next favorites)? The Favorites problem has been reported here by numerous people under different topic headings (search for missing favorites), but no one has received any reply or fix. Thanks.
I’m tired and frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Ever since I logged in my first 20 updates I have not been able to click on "Older". It's grayed out. I'd like to be able to see these older posts.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Hi all. It appears (based on a reply from @biz in another thread) that Twitter deployed a fix for the [Older] button problem that we have with our Recent and Archives pages yesterday.
I've been checking throughout the day, and it seems I can consistently go all the way back to page 43 of my Archives. And there are times when I can go as far back as page 160 (for a total of 3200 tweets).
I'm also able to browse back to page 13 of my Recent timeline. Sometimes I even manage to go as far back as page 19.
Several people have also reported that they are now able to access their older Favorites, which were previously not browse-able.
Anyway, since the fix was deployed, some people have been able to see all their tweets, while others are only able to go back to page 13/14/15. If you happen to still be experiencing this problem after the fix, it might help to add a reply to say so in the new topic that Twitter just created to get feedback regarding this.
See http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to... -
Inappropriate? Thanks, my "older" button has been working for a few days now. I didn't want to jinx it by saying anything, but it appears to have stuck, whatever the Twitter folks did. Many thanks.
I’m relieved
