Not receiving notifications in Jabber or GTalk
Hi,
I've been trying to set up IM notifications for a few days now. I have a valid GTalk account and a valid Jabber account. I have tried using both accounts for IM notifications, and neither work.
Here's the problem: I am able to authorize my client after setting it up on the Twitter site without any mishaps. I do get a message back from Twitter, notifying me that I have authorized the client. I get responses when sending things like 'on', 'off', and 'help'. If I send a status update to twitter@twitter.com via Jabber or GTalk, it successfully updates my status to what I just sent. But, here is the actual problem.
I do not receive ANY notifications whatsoever that the 50 people I follow have updated their statuses. During the times that I have had the chat windows open, many of the people I follow have updated their statuses, but I get no notification that it has happened via IM. The conditions that are required (stated at http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to... ) are all true. I don't understand why this is not working!

Inappropriate?Hi,
My guess on the description of your problem is that you need to turn notification ON for the people you're following.
Log in and go to http://twitter.com/friends. On this page, you'll see all the people you're currently following. In addition to just follow them, you'll need to turn notification ON in order to receive them on your IM or SMS.
Hope this helps,
Thomas

Inappropriate?I already do have it turned on for all 50 people that I follow—as that was one of the conditions from the link I posted.
-
Inappropriate?oh... sorry, I didn't realize that you have done that.
OK, then before I give up and let others help you. I've seen this happen before too. Try to restart again by removing your device (your IM) and re-add on Twitter.com and resend the code.
If that doesn't work, then I'm outta ideas... sorry :-( -
Inappropriate?Okay, now I'm not getting any responses. I set up my IM account again as ThomasHan suggested, and I sent twitter@twitter.com the activation code. I'm not getting any response, although after I sent the code the Devices page says that it is activated. Commands like 'help' are not returning anything. Updating from IM still works fine, but as far as I can tell I'm still not getting notifications. Pidgin says that twitter@twitter.com is currently offline and not authorized.
(I'm using Jabber. GTalk isn't working for me either, as far as I know.)

Inappropriate?I just signed onto my GTalk account and got a pile of notifications (from before I changed Twitter to send to my Jabber account). Twitter responds to commands in GTalk—so it might be working. I have to wait for one of the people I follow to update in order to see if it works.

Inappropriate?Nope. Some people that I follow have updated, and I'm not getting anything from twitter@twitter.com with GTalk or Jabber. (I switched my notifications back to GTalk, and removed, then added again, twitter@twitter.com to my GTalk buddy list. Still no luck whatsoever.)
I’m sad

Inappropriate?I have the same issue, i delete the gtalk and start over, and I can post from it, but get no replies! HELP!!!!

Inappropriate?I have had the same problem (sending okay, no updates received) and solved it this way. Removed the account from Pidgin (the GTalk client I am using), removed the IM from twitter settings. Added a jabber account to twitter (not GTalk) and inserted the full username@googlemail.com. I received a message from twitter to accept, which I did. The buddy was added, then I sent the code from the settings page and now everything is working fine.

Inappropriate?Same issue here - using libpurple in AdiumX. twitter@twitter.com seems offline all the time. Could this be because of a bug in the Pidgin library ?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I reported a similar problem here:
http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to...
Using Gajim on Ubuntu with a jabber.org account. Bottom line is, the twitter@twitter.com account went offline about a week ago and hasn't been seen since. Nothing on my end has changed. -
Inappropriate?same issue, I'm using pidgin. However, i should be getting twitter updated on Gmail also when you have GTalk enabled. so, it should not be just the IM program.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?http://perso.hirlimann.net/~ludo/blog... is the solution I founded to fix this issue.
