nudge

I'm relatively new to Twitter, and I'm trying to get my husband to use it more. I have tried nudging him occasionally, but nothing happens. He swore he didn't get any messages, so I tried signing in as him and I nudged myself. I didn't get a message either. Are nudges broken? This has been going on for over a week.
