Problem with sending DM messages
I am unable to send DM messages to people I follow, even when they are following me

When you go to the profile page of the person following you, do you see a "message username" in their sidebar? If yes, can you try clicking that to see if it lets you send a DM?2 Comments

The users are in my dropdown and the icon is on their sidebar but I always get a message like: 'ShannonRenee' must be following you in order for you to send them direct messages -
Even though I can't reply directly from my own DM page or use the dropdown there, if I go to the user's profile and send from there it does seem to work, so at least I now have a work-around, so thanks! You should look into the problem though, I have seen other peiople complaining as well (check the @twitter from today)

Inappropriate?Ah, sounds like you're experiencing the same DM bug that I had reported also.
Twitter has acknowledged the bug and says they're working on it. Details here, in case you're interested.
