Inappropriate?Hi Wirus. Twitter observes a 9-month rule, i.e., they will release a username if it has been abandoned for 9 months.
-
Inappropriate?is it possible i use one username first and later shift everything over to the one i want?
-
Inappropriate?Hello. Yes you can change your username at any time provided that the username you want to change to is available. All followers, followings, @replies, and direct messages move to the new name.
I suggest, though, that you use a name that is close enough to the name that you actually want, so that your followers don't have to adjust too much to the name change later... after all, they'll be used to sending you @replies to your first username. -
Inappropriate?hai.. why must I wait for 9months for an account that wasn't used before? It's obviously a spam account created.. I have been waiting for it 5months before, at then it's only 2months.. And there were no updates at all from then till now..
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?WiRuS:
The 9-month rule generally applies from the time when the account was last used. If the Twitter username in question belongs to a deleted account, Twitter will normally hold it "in limbo" for 6 months in case the original user has a change of heart. I don't know if Twitter make an exception if they agree that the original account was "spammy".
Twitter's crystal explains how to proceed in her post on inactive user name requests (please click):Since inactive user name requests are such a popular thing, they now have their own address.
I recommend that you submit an extra request as crystal describes, in which you include your original support number (350827 - just the number, not the letters, for your security!) as well as this link to your post in this thread. Finally, post your new support ticket number here too, so that Twitter have all necessary infos at their fingertips once they see your new ticket.
I'd normally recommend just updating your original ticket. However, it's just possible that your request somehow got "forgotten" when Twitter changed to their new system for inactive user name requests, which is why I recommend a new ticket this one time.
EDIT: The account http://twitter.com/wirus (0 followers, 0 following, 1 update: 25 May 2008) doesn't look "spammy" to me: it just looks abandoned. Its 9 months don't expire until 25 Feb 2009, though.
I’m hoping this helps
