Resetting account by deleting, creating new, renaming not working
Hi guys,
I wanted to reset my account, so I created a second account. Deleted the first one and then tried to rename the second one to the first, but even though the account no longer exists, Twitter reports that the username is already taken.
Is there a caching issue here? How long before the name becomes available again?
Thanks!

Inappropriate?How was this problem solved?

Inappropriate? The solution is that you can't delete accounts on Twitter (sort of what happens in Facebook), they retain the username/followers/following so that if you change your mind, you can reactivate it. Do note, though, that you will lose any updates you've done in the past (so this resets to zero).
I was doing this to get a clean slate on my following list without having to delete one by one. I found out that there's an app for that, Jesse Stay's http://socialtoo.com and even though it's not free, it's the *best* solution out there to reset your followers/following list.
Hope this helps.

Inappropriate?Oh well. Thanks for the info. I'd created a second account with the new id I preferred, before I realized I could change the old name.
