Send Twit via an E-mail address ?
Would it be possible to send a twit via an e-mail address?
Obviously this would have to be an obscure address and maybe also contain a user specified "password" in the message.
I receive regular email updates on charity donations via e-mail, I'd like these to appear as tweets.
Can this be done?

Hi Ross,
Check out this 3rd party app that I've been using (and few others on this forum AFAIW) http://twittermail.com/

Inappropriate? You could also try http://twitpic.com which will let you post from email and also allow you to post pictures from your email, phone, or PC.

Inappropriate?Thanks for those suggestions.
I have actually undertaken the intellectual exercise of trying to code this myself. I am not a developer but I do enjoy dabbling.
I have a perl script that I have written that pulls my e-mail from the server and creates a text file for each message and then deleted the message. I then have a bash script that processes the files, checks for certain conditions and then posts them as twits.
This all works fine.
Then I realised that the notifications that I was wanting to tweet can only go to my "primary" e-mail address. I don't want all the emails, to be tweets.....
I'll post the code on my site shortly.
Thanks
Ross
I’m happy

Inappropriate? This actually disturbs me. If you are receiving automatic emails from someone asking for money, regardless of how worthy the cause, please do not forward them automatically.
To do so dilutes the causes in question. If you can't take the time to read and evaluate each request before forwarding it, then I think the better question would be how to set things up so each request automatically withdraws money from ~your own~ bank account. That would be a better service to the cause than Spamming twitter.
I’m disturbed

Hey, exador23, I'm a little confused. This reply seems kind of out of place. Maybe you mean to post it in another topic? -
I may have mis-understood the original question. It seemed (perhaps only in my mind) like they were looking for a way to automatically tweet the requests they were receiving via e-mail. Sorry if I misunderstood. -
Gotcha. We were a little puzzled, so thanks for explaining!
