Inappropriate?Wow! This is the first time I've seen something like this! That is confusing indeed!
I *do* notice a few things that the two tweets in your screenshot have in common:
1. they're both tweets sent "from txt" (as you pointed out above)
2. there's a plus symbol (+) in both tweets
3. both those accounts are private
I suggest you consider logging a support ticket at http://twitter.com/help or send an email to support AT twitter DOT com.
It will probably help if you could include the URLs to all the tweets that exhibit this behavior so Twitter can troubleshoot. -
It's not just tweets with + symbols in them or private tweeters. It's every SMS message I've seen from the folks I follow, and it's not just me who has noticed it. -
Inappropriate?I also noticed that the number of @ symbols appended are the same (based on observation) as the original message. My girlfriend has the same problem (started just a few hours back, today), and it occurs when she updated through text. Direct messaging, as we experienced was normal.
She tried to remove/add her phone from twitter but twitter didn't reply when she sent the verification code. We speculate that it too was appended by @ symbols. Thus, the verification failed.
Because, before removing her phone, she sent an ON command through text and the command became an update, unsurprisingly, "ON@@". Too bad I deleted her tweet updates, didn't think it would help.
Her phone is currently not registered, and we are hoping that this problem be pinpointed and cleared out. Thanks!
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Do you suppose it's phone carrier specific? Or country specific?
Anyway, figured I'd contribute to the data points by posting examples of such tweets. Am starting to see them in Twitter Search (formerly Summize)
Examples:
- 2 of Pistachio's tweets
- 1 from TCagley
I’m just as confused as you
-
I know at least one of the folks I follow uses Verizon. Dunno about the others. -
My gf's in the U.S., on Sprint. And based on the tweets on the search page you gave, the @ symbols are really the same number of characters as the original message. Weird. -
I just tried sending an sms of my own. No appended @s. I'm in Asia, though. -
So it might be a US thing? Hmmm, I'm in Asia too, so I'll spare the testing:D -
Wow. That was quick!
