Still can't delete posts!
I am still unable to delete posts (other than direct messages), despite the company saying this has been solved. What is the problem?

Inappropriate?Hello. Twitter disabled deletion by removing the trash icon on Election Day. Is that still missing for you?
If the trash icon is there, does it respond when you click it? Or do you get an error message?
May I ask what browser and OS you're using? There was some trouble for IE6 users a while back... I wonder if that has recurred. -
Inappropriate?I'm using Safari 3.1.2 in MacOs X.5, but have tried it on various browsers (Firefox, Camino, Flock) - all with same result, namely no trash can in evidence, other than for direct messages.
-
Inappropriate? At the risk of asking a silly question... do you see the trash can when you view your own profile page?
For example, if your username is soutra, your profile page would be http://twitter.com/soutra -
Inappropriate? Not a silly question - in fact the trash can DOES show up in the profile.
That solves part of the problem - thank you.
However, I would also like to delete some replies to me - maybe that's just not possible?
John -
Inappropriate?Ah yes. Generally speaking, we can't delete posts that are written by other people.
So we can't delete @replies sent to us, and we can't delete tweets on our home page that were not written by us. -
Inappropriate?i cant delete them to its whery stresvol
-
Inappropriate?I don't even have the trash can showing up anymore. What gives?
-
Inappropriate?I only have the trash can when I click on the time stamp. I click the trash can and a message displays that I am unable to delete.
-
Inappropriate?same here. I see the trash can and get the delete confirmation bow. Once I accept, I get the following message:
This feature is temporarily disabled.
Thanks for your patience while we work to restore it.
I've tried using both Firefox & IE -
Inappropriate?Exactly. Thanks for typing out what I was too lazy to do.

Inappropriate?Hello. The explanation is on the Twitter Status Blog. See http://status.twitter.com/post/593630...
See also this GSFN topic: Working on Data Inconsistencies -
Inappropriate?Message deletion - which Twitter call Status Deletion in some of their posts - was indeed re-enabled on 6 Nov 2008, once the US election fever had died down.
But message deletion - and various other things - started playing up around 12 Nov 2008.
For more on this, see the main thread Working on Data Inconsistencies (which would be the best place to post your thoughts on the matter).
Twitter said things should be back to normal within a few hours ( that was a few hours ago, though)...
I’m just waiting - but not exactly holding my breath...
-
Inappropriate? My trash can disappeared this evening (11/13). Really rotten timing, too.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Looks like message deletion is officially back. Was able to delete messages again. Yay!

Inappropriate?I have the same problem as Kaomig. Deleted an item, it came out of my tweets lists after receiving the above message, but the message is still out there fore everyone else to see.
