Terminate Account means TERMINATE ACCOUNT!
Twitter won't COMPLETELY terminate my account. What are they doing with YOUR information? What kind of company is this?

Inappropriate?Just posting the link to a duplicate thread.

Inappropriate?I'm just trying to get results. mdy, if you're an employee, rather than posting a link, why don't you fix the problem? Why don't you DO SOMETHING?
mdy, what do you PERSONALLY think about this? Do you think Twitter should keep our personal information, such as our username, photo, and webpage URL posted on the Twitter site? Doesn't that concern you?
If it doesn't concern you, then you're clearly on the same page as your inept management. If it does concern you, then you should walk down the hall, open the door to your CEO's office, and state your concern about Twitter abusing people's personal information. Do you condone this?
I’m thinking mdy either isn't a Twitter employee as advertised, or he/she is not concerned her employers ethics

Inappropriate?Hello. To clarify -- I'm not a Twitter employee. If I were, you would see the word "employee" below my avatar.
You can also find the list of Twitter employees registered with GSFN in their People page.
Since you asked me personally what I think, here it is:
1. If I've deleted my account, it is my expectation that anyone who tries to access my profile page or any of my individual tweet pages should get a "page does not exist" error.
2. Even if my tweets are no longer publicly accessible, I would like it if Twitter were to keep a copy of my account for a short period (say 2 or 3 months) before they purge it from their system completely.
I say this because there have been A LOT of people who decided on impulse to delete their accounts only to regret it a day or two later. I know this for a fact because they come to this forum asking for help with restoring their accounts, and they're very happy when they get the account back with all their information intact.
If Twitter did not keep that account information for some time after account deletion, there would be nothing to restore. So a 'grace period' for such contingencies is something that I would appreciate.
3. If Twitter is not properly deleting the account information (meaning, my profile and tweets are still accessible via the Twitter website after I've deleted it), I would be more likely to assume first that it is a bug rather than a lie, and I would file a support ticket asking that it be fixed.
Hope that clarifies. -
Inappropriate?Ah, maybe you can tell me if there are actually 19 employees here to serve us right now.... somehow I think that's a misrepresentation.
If a person deletes their account, there should be absolutely no trace of their information exposed on the website anymore, period.
I think you're probably right, a number of people want to come back after terminating and find old tweets. Perhaps retaining info for 3 months after is fine - if and only if the user, when terminating, authorizes it. Also, it should only be accessible to the user if the user attempts to log in again, and is prompted to re-join within the "grace period" or whatever you may call it.
I’m sensing you get it

Inappropriate? The "19 employees are listening and participating" line is, unfortunately, a blurb that is automatically generated by the GetSatisfaction.com website.
There have been several times (and this is one of them) when I feel that that auto-generated line is a bit misleading, because the reality is this -- there ARE 19 registered Twitter employees on this website, but not all of them have a support role, and unfortunately, the number creates an expectation. -
Inappropriate?I thought I would post Eric's post to another duplicate topic here, just to show how ineffective Twitter is at solving the problem. Looks like they can't figure it out yet.

TWITTER KEEPS PERSONAL INFO, if you create duplicate topics, I don't think it will be very beneficial. I would recommend one topic, so that all of the details can be collected in one place.
I’m glad you see my point
-
Inappropriate?I'm not here to harass you, I am here to help you, but please allow me to do that.
-
Inappropriate?Eric, you seem to miss the point. If you are here to help, then by all means help. If you can't help, get someone who can. Your above post did nothing to move us toward a solution, which should be extremely easy.

Inappropriate?Ah. Eric is an employee of GetSatisfaction. He is merely trying to keep the discussion productive by getting all the replies related to this issue into one topic thread as it is hard to keep track of things if the discussion is going on in parallel in multiple threads. Personally, I appreciate his efforts because the discussion *is* a lot easier to follow if they're all in one place.
The fact that you felt the need to post a copy of Eric's reply from another thread into this thread shows, I think, that you can appreciate the unfortunate side-effect of creating multiple threads for the same problem.
Anyway, from what I can tell, someone from Twitter has responded to one of the threads already, and I expect that thread will become the main one for further discussions regarding this topic.
I hope and I'm optimistic that the issue relating to your account will be resolved to your satisfaction.
