The flash powered widgets are broken even on twitter.com
The flash widget is broken, it is completely blank, the flash widgets on twitter.com are also down: http://twitter.com/widgets/which_flash
I have tested the code and it is definitley broken, I noticed on the 28th October that it stopped working, for it not to work on twitter itself means omething is wrong.
It's very frustrating as this is on the homepage of our web site!

Inappropriate?Yeah, me too!
There are non-flash versions, but I spent a lot of time making the flash version work (i.e. validate) with swfobject!
I’m frustrated and scared
-
Inappropriate?I've got the same problem, a flash widget on my homepage that is appearing only as a black box. And, There isn't much of a widget help section on twitter.
Hope this gets fixed soon!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yeah getting the same here on my site, used to work fine but now a black box http://www.adamblackguitarcompany.co.uk/
-
Inappropriate? This really sucks, it's the best widget by far
-
Inappropriate?I have given up on the embedded flash widget for which there doesn't seem to be any info on why it's stopped working. I keep finding blogs over 6 months old extolling the virtues of the official flash widget and all their examples are black boxes! Someone suggested Flash 10 compatibility was a problem but I have been using Flash 10 for a while and the flash widget WAS working perfectly fine until recently. So instead I found this script based widget at twitter.com that works just fine. Looks similar if not exactly the same and more importantly it actually works!!!! No more black box, yeah. I'll keep the old code around just in case I hear more because this is missing some features but for now, at least you see tweets...

I’m disgusted but had enough and moving on

The flash version I have to say does look nicer, plus it has follower numbers etc, I know the html one wroks fine but our web site was optimised for the flash version which is why it's so frustrating. It seemed to have worked without any downtime until the 28th of october. I have a support request raised so let's see what happens. -
Inappropriate?"The flash widget is broken, it is completely blank, the flash widgets on twitter.com are also down: http://twitter.com/widgets/which_flash "
Kristina I just noticed at the bottom of the test link you refer to it says
"Note: Requires Flash 9"
so maybe there is an issue with upgrading to Flash 10. Flash 10 has been out quite a while now, so if that is it, Twitter needs to get off their butt and fix this.
problem is I don't recall seeing that note at the bottom of page I used to build the flash widget some time ago and I have been using Flash 10 longer than that and it was working fine till recently, so again I confused, disgusted, and not wasting anymore time on this nonsense.
I’m disgusted

It was working fine until the 28th October so I don't think that is the issue. Our technical guy said that the movie is broken and they need to fix it (not quite sure what that means!) Any way, I have raised a request with Twitter and it is apparently being looked at. -
Inappropriate? It seems to be an issue with the Flash widgets for MySpace as well.... the ones for your standard site seem to work... but these don't work on MySpace!
Also, how on earth do you open a support ticket with Twitter, or E-Mail them?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?According to another topic on here, it's down to a file being missing: http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to...
-
Inappropriate?Just opened another Ticket on Twitter's support site.... will have to wait and see now!
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?I trawled the Twitter support site for ages but couldn't figure out how to submit a ticket. Hopefully you'll get their attention Toby.
-
Inappropriate?I do hope so, I did a Google search in the end and came up with the following link to submit a new ticket: http://twitter.zendesk.com/requests/new
I also noticed a number of complaints about tickets still not being assigned after a number of days (fingers crossed this will be different)
If that doesn't work I'm going to see if I can't get an E-Mail address off someone. It worked with Facebook....
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Ahh, good thinking! And thanks for the link - I'm sure it will come in handy.
I’m waiting impatiently for Twitter to sort themselves out.
-
Inappropriate?I have the same problem, all I see is a blank space on my MySpace. I tried the new code, but it doesn't work. Part of the code ends up missing when I paste it into MySpace, so I see a partial code on my page. Anyone know what to do?
-
Inappropriate?@ Misplaced Music - No worries, I'm sure it will, although the fact they're hiding it doesn't look good!
@ Sasafrass452 - You need to use the code for MySpace, if you copy and paste the code they give you for a web site into MySpace it appears broken. -
Toby, I did try the code for MySpace, & it didn't work as I described above. -
Ah. In that case, it could well be related to these other issues or could be something else altogether.... -
Inappropriate?Ok, I went to http://twitter.com/widgets/which_flash & selected the compact widget. That one seems to be working, so I'll keep it for now.
-
Yes, they do seem to work still... I'm going to see if I can contact anyone at Twitter and will post back here when I hear back. -
Inappropriate? It can't be a flash problem, I think. Because most of the time it's just a white box. But sometimes it is appearing on the site.

Inappropriate?I've just checked my request on Twitter Support and it has changed to 'Being processed'. Just to let you all know.
-
Inappropriate? This is the error message I get in Google Chrome, from Adobe Flash Player 10:
Error #2044: Niet-afgehandelde securityError:. text=Error #2048: Schending van beveiligingssandbox: http://twitter.com/flash/widgets/prof... kan geen gegevens laden van http://static.twitter.com/flash/widge...

Inappropriate?I think I know why ... try reverting to flash player version 10,0,22,87. Currently, I have 10,0,22,87 running on one of my laptops and the widget works fine; however, my laptop running 10,0,32,18 shows the twitter widget as blank.
While this will work for your personal laptop, it doesn't do your customers any good ... you can't control what they've installed. You could code your website to serve up different widgets based on the version of flash player (i.e. twitter flash widget vs twitter html widget)
I'll do more testing and let you guys know -
Inappropriate?I've just checked and my ticket is still open, but the widgets seem to be working.... I have kicked up a fair amount of fuss - as have all of us, so hopefully I'll get a proper explanation what it was soon!
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Sometimes it's visible. But it's not completely fixed yet...
-
Inappropriate? It works perfectly for me! Has for 2 days now.
-
Inappropriate? That's strange. Are you sure? At my site www.westtwente.nl the widget is working sometimes. But when you do a refresh it's gone again.
-
Inappropriate?Mine shows up black but it always loads, if not instantly then eventually.
-
1 person says
this solves the problem
-
Inappropriate? They did. But for me it's now broken again!
This is ridiculous - we have spent a lot of time to developed a flash application to display tweets based on their API. This needs to be fixed!
I’m frustrated
-
And today it's started to work again. -
Inappropriate? The larger Flash widget does take longer to load, compared to the smaller one normally.
The official Twitter Flash widget is now working, so if it isn't for you that is an issue with your computer. -
Inappropriate? The problem all this time was not with flash itself but with the "crossdomain.xml" file which should reside on Twitter's server. Flash needs to load this file before it can load twitter feeds.
For unknown reasons, Twitter have removed this file but it seems that right now it's been replaced again, and flash widgets are working again.
Please Twitter, don't scare us like this anymore!
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate?I just had an E-Mail through saying: 'Thank you for reporting this issue to us. Our support team will be looking into the matter soon.'
I’m undecided
