These Twitter Accounts Were Suspended For No Reason & The Portland Community Would Like Them Restored
For an unknown reason, twitter has suspended @pdxpipeline and @pdxjobs (and others that have been used). @PDXPipeline has been a member of twitter since summer 07 and has been a good resource for Portland & worked hard to provide good Portland info and to grow the twitter community.
@PDXjobs was created to help people in Portland find jobs and has helped many people.
We have put in 1000s of hours into these projects and have received no profit for doing so. there is no way that twitter actively sought out these accounts to suspend. They both have gmails, have separate sites and are unrelated. Someone/some entity has done this (along with @pdxbikes @pdxevents @pdxeats @pdxtechjobs @oregonwine) for some nefarious reason and Twitter should not allow that kind of abuse of their system to happen.
These accounts are publicly related to PDX Pipeline and we have used them together to help provide different types of Portland information. We have other accounts that we use in other ways and are not publicly known to be related to PDX Pipeline. These still stand and yet share @pdxpipeline.com email addresses.
They stand because the people who did this, do not know about them. Those that were we related in #followfriday and retweets. There is no doubt that someone looking to remove us from twitter caused this for their own personal reasons. They have no integrity. They have abused the system.
Twitter should not allow its system to be abused like this b/c then we are all vulnerable to people without ethics.

Inappropriate? Please restore @pdxpipeline & @pdxjobs! These are very valuable services to the Portland community!
I’m missing PDXPipeline on Twitter!
-
Inappropriate?I can vouch for PDX Pipeline here - these accounts are legitimate, not used in ways that are harmful, and provide much benefit to the larger PDX community. What's the rationale for suspending them?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? As others have said, these are legitimate accounts being used for productive purposes. Unless there was something shady going on that we don't know about, they should be restored.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?I agree. I've followed both accounts for months and haven't see any sign of misuse. Quite the contrary, they of great benefit to the local community.
I’m confused & annoyed
-
Inappropriate?Just like everyone else says -- these are legitimate accounts providing a service. Please restore!
I’m sighing
-
Inappropriate?@pdxpipeline and @pdxjobs are actual useful info sources. There must have been a mistake or some sort of pranking at work here. There was never any scams or spams from this account – please restore them poste haste!
It's the right thing to do!
I’m perplexed and bemused

Inappropriate?I would like to second or third the above sentiments. If Twitter wishes to be nothing more than clearing house for inane and fatuous remarks then clearly the correct thing to do is ban all serious content or all links to serious content. It isnt possible to say anything worthwhile in 140 characters or less. Consequently links are essential if the medium is to serve any useful purpose. My own account was shut down just as we are preparing to publicize a major international event in Portland. I strongly suspect that the "complaint" was made by the same person who was instrumental in closing down my Facebook account. This person regards himself as a competitior and loves to adopt such tactics. it seems that procedures on both sites are designed to accommodate malicious individuals . The internet is nothing more than a mass of interlinking content...links are what make it function....LINKING IS NOT SPAMMING.
I’m extremely irritated
-
Inappropriate?I agree with the sentiments listed above. PDX Pipeline and PDX Jobs are important community resources and they need their twitter accounts restored.
I’m Frustrated
-
Inappropriate?According to Mashable, there is a rash of this going on. Although it is strange that the accounts I put in followfriday and gone and ones I didn't are still there.
Either way, THANK YOU all for your help and hopefully this will be over soon.
I’m hopeful?
-
Inappropriate?I agree. I subscribe to some of those accounts and I don't think Twitter should have casually cancelled them based on unverified complaints. Please restore immediately and upgrade your security. After all, there are dozens of spammers getting through that need 3rd-party services to help block. Focus on them instead.
I’m unhappy
-
Inappropriate?I follow PDX Pipeline daily and have referred many friends to PDX Jobs - please restore these accounts. I've never personally witnessed anything from either source that could be deemed anything less than very useful.
I’m bewildered?!

Inappropriate?Twitter says a "spam cloud" problem causing undue suspensions: http://ow.ly/gyec

Inappropriate? How on earth did a useful service like this get suspended? Please Twitter - put them both back.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?WE ARE BACK. Thanks you all. Anyone who commented here and sends me their address will be rewarded with a Pipeline button from OneInchRound.com (local and good people).
Thank you all, Julian
Also, while it looked nefarious at the outset and I had discussed it with a few people before I drew that conclusion, it appears that is not true and was just a twitter hiccup that was painful.
I’m veryy happy

Inappropriate?Looks like it was indeed an error. There's a post now up on the Status Blog.
