Tweet SMS repeated four times on T-Mobile USA
I just received four identical SMS messages for a friend's tweet. He only tweeted once. Something seems to be duplicating these messages. Is something wrong with Twitter's SMS support? This is on T-Mobile in the USA, by the way. I only have 300 SMS per month, so if this isn't solved soon I'll have to stop using Twitter.

Inappropriate?I have Suncom... soon to be tmo. I have been receiving many multiples.
I’m overwhelmed!
-
Inappropriate?I am also on Tmobile USA and experienced the same problem, but I think the issue is over now! I've never had problems before.
I’m hopeful
-
Inappropriate?@rossdurham I am getting some spillover still from last night, but currently my tweets are going right through!
I’m wanting you to cheer up . . . and am hoping that I'm right
-
Inappropriate?@nathanbrisk I sent a message about an hour ago prolly and it still has yet to post. I am sending and receiving messages completely fine via SMS with friends. It may be that a server that processes the TMO (triton) messages is behind.
-
Inappropriate?@rossdurham I just did an SMS test in Phoenix and she rolled right through. Check again!
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?@nathanbrisk It did roll right through. However the reply you sent did not go to my phone, and I still have yet to confirm if the messages are repeating to me.

Inappropriate?I called T-Mobile just now and they reset my phone and network settings and then after the reboot I lost ALL sms ability. I'm having duplicates being received and sent and I'm having SMS messages resent hours later. I may get a tweet via SMS now and get 2 copies of it and then 4 hours later I'll get another 3 copies of the same message. This isn't happening just with Twitter, however, as I'm having the same issues with BrightKite and other SMS services.
Isn't it ironic that T-Mobile is raising their per message SMS rates at the end of the month and the services is getting worse and worse leading up to it?
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate? But isn't this different? I've never had any issues with Tmo before. Alltel seems to be the one with the continuing dupe issue!
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Nathan, this is definately a T-Mobile issue (well, more appropriately it is probably an issue with the gateway service that T-Mobile uses -- which could be the same as Suncom which would explain the earlier reply). It can't be a Twitter problem if people are having the same issues with services other than Twitter.
Also, T-Mobile has not had a good track record for reliable SMS and they have been known to be idiots about it too....
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I am making an assumption, but since SMS services are affected, but regular SMS is not affected, I say it has something to do with the services with Short Codes (40404 - Twitter). I have had issues with communication between my network and other networks but I have not seen it as an issue solely with Suncom.
-
Inappropriate?@bblboy54 Oh I know it's Tmobile, I just don't think they're known for having this problem.
-
Inappropriate?I had some SMS messages I sent to people on other networks that never made it to them but I haven't had an issue going to other T-Mobile phones so the problem doesn't seem limited to shortcodes but to anything outside of the T-Mobile network.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?@nathan I've had the problem multiple times before. Its becomming a common place to me, actually..... the thing is it's never been this bad before and I think because it's more severe this time more people are seeing it that didn't see it before.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?I have TMobile and don't get tweets at all...how can I change that?
-
Set it up online. Twitter.com->Settings->Devices. Then make sure you have SMS updates turned on for any specific Twitterer. -
But the problem is that I have tmo and when i update I have to send them to the UK number, because it wouldn't accept a shortcode...so I can't get tweets, since they don't send to UK numbers. At least that's what I've found online... -
Ohhhhh. Sorry. You'll need to find a different solution, I think. Here are some of your options: # m.twitter.com works on browser-enabled phones
# m.slandr.net works on browser-enabled phones
# TwitterMail works on email-enabled phones
# Cellity works on java-enabled phones
# TwitterBerry works on BlackBerry brand phones
# Twitterific works on iPhones
# Twitter SMS by The Numbers -
Thanks!! -
Inappropriate? My phone just started vibrating nonstop as if messages were being received--2 messages came through but the vibrating continues. Is this just me?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?A friend of mine just got "Service is temporarily down. Please try again later" .... anyone who has been tweeting from T-Mobile for a while knows that message all too well
I’m frustrated
-
Haha man I've never seen that over SMS! Perhaps it has to do with the area or something. -
Inappropriate? The only thing I get, if I send an update to 40404 is "This service is unavailable with your current service plan" ...or something that. So I have to update to update to the UK number. IS there anyway to fix that?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?@DaintyVillian The issue in this thread is a T-Mobile USA issue, I belive. You probably want to look at http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to...
-
Inappropriate? No, I do have Tmo USA. Sending to the UK number is the only way I can get my updates through, it won't accept the shortcode.
-
Inappropriate?Does any of this help? http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to...
-
Inappropriate? Not really =[ Thank you though!!
