tweets taking HOURS to show up on Twitter?
When I send a tweet from my Verizon phone it won't show up on Twitter for literally HOURS. This began about a week ago, with around an hour delay and has gotten worse since - the delay is now around 6 or 7 hours. There doesn't seem to be a delay in messages DELIVERED TO my phone, just in tweets sent FROM my phone TO TWITTER. I called Verizon because I thought there might be a problem with my messaging, but I haven't had any difficulties with texts to friends and Verizon didn't know know what Twitter was - they suggested the problem was with Twitter itself.
What's going on!!? Isn't the POINT of Twitter to post what you're doing RIGHT NOW?

Inappropriate?ehungerford:
You're not alone with this problem, which has affected many Verizon (USA) users over the past week or so.
For all VERIZON USA customers with SMS text issues: please click here and follow the instructions there.
I’m happy to help you on your way.

Inappropriate?I am also having this problem but I am on the AT&T network. My tweets from my cell are either showing up hours after I send them or not showing up in my timeline at all.
I’m frustrated

You and other non-Verizon users should click this link and follow the instructions from there. -
Inappropriate?I had previously tried deleting and re-adding my phone - with no success - but I JUST tried it again and so far, my tweets are going straight through. Don't know if you've tried this yet, but it's worth a shot...
I’m undecided - how long will it last!!

Inappropriate? If you haven't yet done so, this is not a good time to try deleting & re-adding your phone - or, indeed, make any other drastic adjustments which you can't easily undo.
Any issues which first appeared at approx. 14:00 UTC on Thursday 6th. August 2009 or later may be side effects of the massive DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack on Twitter and related services via the Internet.
As a result, many parts of Twitter - and 3rd.-party applications such as http://dabr.co.uk and http://m.tweete.net - are working poorly or not at all. Even updates from the phone are disrupted for many users.
I hope things will be back to normal within a few days - though of course I've no idea if this will be the case.
To keep up to date with Twitter's attempts to get things back to normal:
• Follow @Twitter (if you can follow people at present)
• Read Twitter's newest posts at http://status.twitter.com and http://blog.twitter.com/
Meanwhile, some 3rd.-party alternatives (which have worked for me at least partially):
• http://dabr.co.uk is actively devising workarounds and has a list of @dabr mirror sites
• http://tweetgrid.com worked for me even whilst http://twitter.com was officially 'down' on Thursday afternoon.
I’m medium-term hopeful (on this one, at least)...
