Twitter Feature: Mass tweet members of a List?
Hey! I'd been having this idea floating around in my head for a long while now, and the new Twitter Lists almost hit the nail on the head, but not quite.
I think there should be a feature, either added to Twitter Lists or made separately, where you can send mass tweets with one @[ListName]. It would probably need a new Command other than @ since it could be someone's username, but you get the point.
So for example, if I want one List to include my family, I might name the list "TheFam" then when I want to tweet all my family at the same time I can just type in [Command]TheFam, instead of taking up most of the 140 character space in the tweet box with usernames.
So basically, its pretty much like a mailing list...er....tweeting list.
P.S. It would probably be a good idea to add the option of selecting or un-selecting certain individuals from a given list before sending the mass text.

Inappropriate?I like this idea although if it became a reality I'm sure the pornbots, get rich quick scheme merchants etc will be innundating thousands of users with their spam.2 Comments

I think if this is a concern there should be a one-click "halt buttton" that kills spam feeds / spambots. The onus would be on the list to justify their continued existance through some kind of ajudication process. Maybe there could be an opt-in, or some way to control that first time posters to a list must do a CAPTCHA. -
Also, Twitter could, by default, hide posts (in an expandable button) to a list from new users (i.e. newer than 1 week). Perhaps users could also nominate others to a list. i.e. an existing list member would have to authorize a new member, and existing list members can always report the spammer.

Inappropriate?It could be moderated like Google Groups, where only the designated moderators or only list members could tweet to the list. This will keep out teh spammers
