Re Biz's post about this, my suggestion and hence a feature request would be to add a setting to expose replies to the public if desired.
Therefore, Person A could follow "newslet" and Person B could twitter a message @newlet and subsequently one could then tune in to Person B twitters for the duration of the news event.
What do you think?
PS. This is obviously a hackish way of accomplishing things. Use of a bot here could do more.

Inappropriate?Lane, I agree that it sounds similar but I guess one of the things that would have to be worked out is that a breaking news event could and should be dynamic as it's transitory whereas a group for a conference could have a longer lifespan.
