Twitter Hates My Cell Phone
I have a Sprint phone and I've tried verifying my phone over and over, but nothing works. I checked the FAQ and I don't think those frequent problems are affecting me. Could it be a Sprint problem with the short code?

Inappropriate?I have the Same Problem with My Verizon Wireless Phone...It sucks. Twitter Replies to My Help Message with the Short Code...but I can't update from my Cell Phone my profile because My PHONE WON'T Verify... I followed the instructions verbatim and still the screen just sits there and does nothing. I Give up because I can't find the answer here at all?
I’m frustrated
-
Yeah, I'm having this as well. I'm wondering if it is some kind of exchange issue between Twitter and some/all of the cell providers... -
Inappropriate? If you're able to get an sms reply from Twitter when you send HELP, but you're not able to verify your phone, there's a good chance that your phone number wasn't entered correctly in http://twitter.com/devices
Meaning, Twitter received your verification code, but it couldn't match the phone number that was sending the verification code with the phone number that was entered in http://twitter.com/devices
If you're in the US, could you kindly confirm if you entered your phone number without leading zeros in this format: +1 (area code) (number).
For ex. +1 202 1234567
I’m not sure if that's really the problem, but I figure I'd ask in case it helps.

Yes, I did exactly that. My Sprint cell says that the message to 40404 was sent successfully, but nothing ever happens. I do not receive a reply from Twitter either when I send HELP. -
Inappropriate?I also cannot get Twitter to activate my Verizon phone. I have sent repeated 40404 messages that Verizon says are sent successfully, the phone number is set up in the correct format, etc., but Twitter will not verify the phone and does not respond to 40404 help messages or anything else.
I’m annoyed

Yup, that's what happens to me on my Sprint cell. It says it sent successfully, but nothing ever happens. -
Hi. Could you kindly reply with some additional background as to what you've tried? Does Twitter respond when you send HELP or ON? -
Inappropriate?Kyle, re: your Sprint phone
In a related thread, someone said that they had to call Sprint to request that they unblock shortcodes for their mobile phone account. Perhaps your problem is similar. -
Inappropriate?i cant verify my phone either :(
Ive text the code to the number given (im in the uk) and it says welcome and whatever, but on my twitter profile page it still says it needs verifying! Ive tried it a few times now, but no go. help?
I’m annoyed

Inappropriate?Short codes work fine on my Verizon service for other things, so the problem is not that Verizon is blocking short codes. On the contrary, I get a "message sent successfully" back from Verizon, but nothing happens to the messasge on the Twitter side. I feel sure this is a Twitter problem, not a Verizon problem.

Wish I could help, but I'm just as stumped as you on this one. 8-( -
Inappropriate?gemma08, when you first sent the verification code to the UK number, did Twitter reply by asking you for your name?
If yes, this related thread may be of help to you. -
Inappropriate?mdy, thankyou! that seems to be what has happened!
I'm sure how to delete the second account though, any ideas anyone? -
Hi, gemma08. @crystal explains how you can claim the second account in the thread that I linked to (above). The best approach, I think, is to claim the account so you have control over it, delete your phone number from the devices page, then delete the account. -
thankyou, i now have it working! At last! -
That's wonderful news! I'm glad. [ And on that happy note, I think I will hit the sack at last. G'night from GMT+8. ] -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem. I'm using a BlackBerry with Sprint service. I send texts to 40404. I get confirmation that my text was sent. But I never get anything from Twitter. Texting the six-letter confirmation code gets nothing. Texting "HELP" or "ON" or anything else - I don't get any response from twitter. I contacted Sprint and confirmed that no short codes (or anything else) were block from sending me texts. I even got a short code reply from sprint.
I'm wondering, during my research I noticed that Sprint's support says that SMS messages sent to a number preceded with "1" or "+1" will not be received. Does twitter add this prefix?
I’m sad

This is not a fix for the sms issue, but since you're using Blackberry, you might want to try TwitterBerry. It uses the data network rather than sms. See http://www.orangatame.com/products/tw... -
Inappropriate?I cant use SMS at all.I live in the US,my phone is registered in the US,I do not have a pre-paid phone. And I text short code numbers like myspace,& facebook,& google & it works just fine.I dont understand why it wont work for me.Someone help?
EDIT: i use a blackjack.
I’m ANGRY
