Twitter is not logged into Jabber
For the past 2-3 days or more, the twitter@twitter.com account has showed up as being 'offline' in Jabber. Is there anyone looking into this?
More generally, is there some kind of system status page where I can see whether anyone thinks this should be working or not?

Inappropriate?I'm assuming since others have subscribed to this that other people are having the same problem. Could we get a response here?
The server I'm logged into is jabber.org. The twitter@twitter.com account has not been logged in for at least a week now.
Everything else still seems to be logged in, so I don't think the problem is on my end. But if it is somehow, of course I would like to know that as well.
Does no one care because everyone uses GTalk instead?
Here, I will even add a frowny face, since your software has told me that's very important.

Inappropriate?My account is also @jabber.org, so I looked into that and it turns out jabber.org updated their software on the 9th, and others seem to be having the same problem as we are. Looks like it's a problem on their end, and they're working on it. See here:

Thank you for pointing out that one can still send messages out, because that really minimizes the problem for me, and I wouldn't have thought to even try.

Inappropriate?I haven't heard anything. Last I saw was on that jabber.org blog (see link above), a post dated 4/14 saying they knew Twitter was broken and were working on it. Nothing since then. I tried posting a followup and got no response.

Inappropriate?Seemed to start working again just now. From the page at http://status.jabber.org/, looks like maybe they downgraded to the old version of the server (1.1.3 instead of 2.0.0).

Inappropriate?I'm using Gtalk and I have the same (?) issue. twitter@twitter.com seems to be signed off like 50% of the time, even though I can send messages to it and sometimes even get messages back. If I sign out and back into Gtalk, it often fixes itself for a little while, but eventually the Twitter address reports offline again.

Inappropriate?Twitter IM was taken offline on May 23, 2008 to give Twitter a chance to stabilize after a database server error.

Inappropriate?For the past few days at least, Twitter is still shown as Offline in Jabber (FWIW I'm using Miranda-IM's Jabber protocol to access GTalk), but messages are in fact coming in. AFAICT, my outgoing messages are not received by Jabber. -
Inappropriate?Yes, what you described is consistent with my own experience.
The Twitter status blog at http://status.twitter.com also lists IM as being offline, so the problem is with the IM feature itself, not with your account.
I suggest you *don't* try removing your IM to re-verify it at this point, because you won't be able to.
Also, you may wish to follow the main "IM is offline thread" since Twitter is more likely to post updates there.
