Twitter keeps sending me generic emails that don't help me at all!

I want a username that is registered, but is unactive and hasn't posted any tweets. I emailed their username@twitter.com, and explained, but everytime I get a generic email telling me how to change my username, although I can't! I mean, am I meant to be an idiot or something that I can't change my username!?
