Twitter Known Issues

Tried all of that online resources to try and stop "Barrage of texts from twitter despite being deactivated". Direct messages to support desk didn't help either.

Meanwhile we continue to get spammed by vodafone with twitter messages despite all efforts. Bad idea to link mobile to Twitter in hindsight.

every time I try to open Twitter, I get a file download prompt from twitter, and when I choose cancel- the page closes.

what's going on?

I can't restore my account even though the problem was marked as solved, it's not! The link in the verification email takes me back to Twitter and a drop down says "Sorry, we couldn't verify that you requested an account restoration."

What am I supposed to do now?!

why is my account suspended? i ́ve done nothing bad! that sucks...

I have not been able to access my account for three days. I have sent numerous e-mails to support@twitter.com and I have received absolutely zero responses. Furthermore, this is the fourth time this has happened in the last four weeks.

The "known issue" section of the site is worthless because it appears that Twitter has known about various issues for months and yet these issues continue to happen. In addition, the only way to contact Twitter for support (if you cannot login to your account) is to send an e-mail to support@twitter.com. However, as I stated above, nobody responds to e-mails.

Twitter has the WORST user service I have experienced.

My account is still suspended all dough ¿Twitter Support? Send me a mail about a week ago "That they are looking into the matter".

When do I get my account back? I don not want to create a new account as suggested by many Twitter with the same problem, I want to use the account I had.

It's very frustrating not to be able to contact Twitter directly,.....

I just can add myself up for the "frustrated" people. I am sure there are thousands already.
Some of them dont even bother to write on this posts because they understand the overestimation of this entire system.

If you look at any account page of Twitter you can come with some interesting ideas and answer as well.

I can understand "keeping it simple" is useful for traffic. But not for the user!
I understand background images are big files. But twitter is UNABLE to find a solution for this.
I understand there are limitation (for people with followers under 2000) but what about users with 600.000 followers? They dont even bother following others LOL.

Overall, there are so much things to say about twitter but in most part is a bad joke.
When you say Twitter you can say this in related keywords:
rules, bugs, bad staff, few staff, useless traffic, pointless traffic, very limited interface

maybe I can add here a pro keyword: a lot of people involved in it.

After several posts, I dont even know how to rate my response. I guess it would be "frustrated" too, in respect for others who did care about Twitter by: joining, working up their followers, joining multiple accounts for each crazy idea: tweetburner.com, friendfeed.com, revtwt.com, tweetlater.com, twitbacks.com etc...

A story that started good and ended sad: Twitter.

I agree, Pop M. Great concept, and the far-and-away leading brand in the micro-blog market. But Twitter is seemingly incapable of resolving the most-basic of problems ... and Twitter "support," beyond the worthless auto-replies that their support-ticket system generates, is non-existent.

Move on seems the best solution. There are myriad other micro-blogs, hopefully better, whose brands and services are more deserving of support from users, in my opinion.

LOL. Well, after fruitless weeks of trying to get anything from Twitter "support" (just needed the password reset to be sent to me ... not rocket science) in about an hour and a half my problem is solved. All HTML and images are updated on our company Web site, and our newsfeeds won't be at posted at www.twitter.com/Yellotools. They'll be at http://yellotools.blogspot.com.

The easy solutions are always the best.

Texas-Jim, you may also want to experiment with posterous (www.posterous.com) for your blog. it's dead simple to get started -- basically, an e-mail to post@posterous.com gets you started.

As for this supposed Twiiter support...I think it's shameful that both Twitter and Facebook signed up for Get Satisfaction and don't use it.

Well you know what I think folks? That they are soooo darn busy suspending accounts that they cant have a lunch break.

This is funny after all. To see "the big guys" dieing under their own rules. Eating up their life.

For me it's a way of posting company press notices where editors of our industry magazines can subscribe to the feeds ... it also gets us some backlinks.

Blogspot seems a good vehicle for that, but it's great to have fallbacks. So thanks again for the tip.

My theory on Twitter (Skype, too) is that these companies need to hire more marketing people and fewer prop-heads. They come up with great products but can't seem to penetrate the market with a model that makes money. Any moron can give stuff away.

So they implode under the weight of their own "success."

It's a repeating senario in Webland, it seems. Folks figure that once they have eyeballs they can convert that into revenue. Stupid. Unless you have a revenue plan going in, that's based on some tangibles, then why do it?

Opertating at a loss to grab market-share in existing markets violates anti-trust. I think we need laws to protect emerging markets as well. Folks give this stuff away and both create and destroy their market at the same time. Because it makes it even tougher for money-making companies to enter with a fee-based service when some bonehead has gone before them with a free one .. and created a large user-base ... and then turns consumers off to the concept because the category is branded as junk due to poor support.

Irks me. But what can you do.

The only reason this company exists is because the "freebie" era has evolved so bluntly these days and its evolving because of so many scams getting borne each day.

The fact that "every moron" give freebies away is somewhat erroneous, it's a way of marketing things. So they are not so stupid after all. But rather racists.

Probably this week they suspend accounts from Iran/Irak. Next week from Hungary, and so on. The only thing about this is they suspend accounts from weaker countries with little or no laws against Internet piracy/fraud.

This strategy has been applied before on some other big companies, and it seems that always brings success to the owners of the companies.

You talk about success? What kind of success is this? Less than 100 people working for the entire world. I bet they forgot when they saw the last sunrise. Even I became obsessed by this thing called Twitter at some point.

As you can see their major problem is THE LAW. If they would had a solid staff in defending their "brand", there should be fewer "Twit-" domains that are all related to their own. But what can 47 or something people do all they long?

They are 200 years back with the work. I bet they got some mind issues already because you cant just plugin to this system 24h a day. Some desperately need a break.

So you will see support on twitter when all the infected stuff would be changed. I guess that will never happen, and this would be the main reason for their failure.

My Account has also been suspended! completely out of the blue, i've just written a blog post about this http://papermashup.com leave your feedback so we can put pressure on twitter to reinstate the suspended accounts, its a outrage! customer service is poor. Not got satisfaction!!!

Twitter is becoming a waste of energy. As everyone says they do not respond to anything. The website is virtually unusable too.

Twitter finally came through. A support rep manually reset my password and sent it to me by email.

I keep getting an error that I updated too much. I only did 100 times. your support site said I updated 1,000 times! please help, I am very frustrated.

The failure of the flash widget should also be addressed by Twitter. Trying to use it or log on gives "This method requires a GET". What good is that? Many have reported, but Twitter does nothing.,

My account suspension is making me crazy no end. Wammo! Suspended, no explanation (except for the support spam they send out), no response to my tickets (which all say "solved"), UGH. Its enough to make me wanna go choke a bluebird.

Per ellen's post above, we in this thread (scroll to bottom) are having the problem of our tweets being "muted"--not showing up in searches, #searches, or @ to non-followers. Some but not all of us have the "username doesn't show up in search" problem as well.

We don't know if this is a tech glitch or some type of spam-banning; if it is the latter, most of us have not been so notified. This should be considered a "known problem" since a lot of us are having it!

Just a thought, peeps, but I thinking that your tweets won't show up in a public timeline if you have blocked access for the public to view your tweets (tweeters have to request to follow you). I'm not sure if this helps some of you or not. There are definitely a lot of people having problems, but Twitter is growing exponentially and is proven to be a wonderful, highly unique communication tool that is giving a voice to what truly matters to people all over the world. (I'm assuming the information is used for marketing purposes.) This is, for once, a cool method because it is so unobtrusive to the users from which the data is collected. If the only cost to the user is once in a while some technical difficulties, that's not too bad.

If their help group is back-logged, we should start recommending work-arounds (i.e., try starting a new account, etc).

Please let us know why the reply arrows have gone away ...those of us using IE6 no longer have reply arrows at all, or the trash can, so I had to download Mozilla Firefox. Thanks

Today I still cannot reply for 4 days now on IE6, so have to go to Firefox to reply. Also..unblocking people is not working.

I have sent several messages to customer support because i can not find anywhere on the site to report spammers whose links shown take you to a sex and/or porn site so thta they can be removed from Twitter. I realize I can block them, but they shouldn't be there to begin with. I can count on getting at least one a day. Are Links, email addresses, or whatever validated before being allowed to be posted ?? They should be.

Twitter is nothing like your facebook, myspace, hotmail, aol, etc. when it comes to technical support... no one to call, no one to really email.

Twitter didn't you think tech issues would be a major thing to have in the creative process of launching the website? I assume maybe not at first...Congrats on the huge success but you must respond promptly, seriously and accurately to user issues or you will eventually get taken over by facebook, etc... people will give you a bad rep and go elsewhere. AOL didn't think it would happen...it did.

I am not able to see peaple requesting to follow me on twitter. I receive the email of their request but the link takes me to a page that ask me to follow them. I do you fix this. The help on twitter is really no assistance at all.

I kept having trouble signing in because it kept saying I had the wrong pw/username when it was really correct. In order to get into my account I had to keep resetting my pw (and it kept me in my account until I signed out). So I tried to change my username to see if that would help, but now when I try to log in it says "Something is technically wrong." It's been like this for days now and I don't know what it is or how to fix it.

I am unable to upload a change to my background page.

It's a really strange phenomenon: I had tried and tried again to change the background, each time trying a different background (thinking it might have to do with the file being accepted by Twitter). Eventually, Twitter would accept one of the original backgrounds, but not the last background uploaded (?) at the time I was uploading a different one (than what Twitter chose). This would go on and on in this manner, so that sometimes it doesn't show any new background at all, or shows --- not the one you just uploaded --- but a previously uploaded background.

Can't unfollow-I am tired of reading over and over again the same steps of how to unfollow someone or block them. Nothing works. I remove, it says removed but following lists never changes, I block still following lists never changes. I now know not to add anyone else to follow list because they will be fixed never come off of my following list.
