Twitter munges URLs without my consent
When tweeting URLs, even if I'm not over the 140-character limit, Twitter automatically shortens those URLs without asking me first.
I do not click, and would strongly prefer not to tweet short URLs, because they obscure the link destination and make it very difficult for me to tell if the link I'm about to click is in some way malicious. As a general rule, the link's destination should be immediately clear BEFORE I click it.
Furthermore, there is no option to disable this misfeature. TWITTER DEVS: Please add an option to turn this behavior off.
Thanks.

Inappropriate?I'm puzzled about this too, especially as a TinyURL address was accepted in a Tweet on 19 October but on 20 October another TinyURL address was shortened further to http://bexvx.tk/ This wasn’t what I had posted so I was suspicious and it was my own Tweet! Others could think it is a dangerous link, even though it actually just goes to my blog at http://blog.literaryconnections.co.uk...
Any guidance on how to predict or avoid this?
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Update on my comment: I now think these weird URLs were caused by my use of Twitterbar for Firefox. It seems that Twitterbar uses is.gd to shorten URLs (though it also has an option, which I've just found, to use TinyURL or let Twitter do the shortening). However, I'm still puzzled by the strange results, since surely they ought to begin http://is.gd/ ?
