Twitter not working with Gtalk at all
I have been unable to keep Twitter working with Gtalk. It had been working intermittently, but now doesn't work at all.
When I add my im details into Twitter and send the code to twitter@twitter.com in Gtalk, nothing happens. I get no reply from the bot whatsoever. On the website, it allows me to change my im settings, indicating everything has gone through, yet I can't update or receive notifications.
I've reinserted my information numerous times, trying Gtalk and Jabber, with full email address as the login or just the username. Nothing. I thought it was Miranda, so I installed the Google Talk gadget. Still nothing. Please help! I want to use this!

Hi guys,
We're working really hard to stabilize. As a means to that end, we had some downtime with Jabber/Gtalk as a result of our infrastructure project:

But now we're back!

There might be some residual hiccups in the next few days, but we're monitoring everything carefully.
Thanks everyone, for being so patient through this. We've been working like crazy, and will continue to do so. There are lots of exciting things to look forward to in relation to our infrastructure improvements. If you have any more problems, please post them to this thread, and we'll look into it.
Thanks!
I’m thinkin' change is good.

Inappropriate?Been missing Im for the last few days. last IM was 17:01 (NZDT UTC+13) on 7th Feb 2008. Was using the LJ bot, tried adding the Gtalk and the Jabber, but no replies or responses from any of them.
Appreciate any efforts to get IM working again!
I’m missing lots of notifications :(
-
Inappropriate?Just wanted to pipe in and say that I've been intermittently missing updates on IM as well.
Prior to the recent infrastructure move I was getting a constant stream of updates (especially since I use the track feature extensively). Lately, it's been a trickle.
I’m sure it's just a matter of time before everything's back up and running
-
Inappropriate?Notifications via Jabber are now very erratic. Much worse over past few days.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, GTalk notifications aren't working for me. Today (2/11) I received 1/15 notifications that I should have seen.
I’m irritated
-
Inappropriate?Quick update: Twitter IM has been up and running for me on my Gtalk/Gmail for most of today. Hurray!
I first noticed it working again around 9 hours ago (around 6pm PST Feb 11 -- if I did my time zone conversion correctly).
Thanks!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?twitter@twitter.com still shows up as offline in Adium and Gmail conact list and doesn't respons to my messages
I’m fed up

Inappropriate?twitter IM bot not working here (with gtalk) either. tried deleting IM settings and starting over but the bot wouldn't respond to the "passphrase". Now, after refreshing http://twitter.com/devices I see that IM is set up, but I'm still not seeing the bot.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? My Twitter->Gtalk also broke about a month ago but hasn't come back online. Any ideas what might be up? I've tried going on twitter.com and turning off gtalk in my settings and then back on with no luck. Even tried a few times.
Any ideas? I've been twitterless for a month now.
I think the twitter gtalk buddy still receives and posts messages I type, but just doesn't give me my friends updates.
I’m grrrrrrr

Inappropriate?I should have replied to my post above a awhile ago...
This might not solve your problem, but it fixed mine...
I did just as you did, turning on/off notifications through gtalk on twitter's "Phone & IM" settings page. It never seemed to work: although I could still send updates to twitter@twitter.com, I couldn't get notifications.
What I did:
I found that in my IM program I needed to first delete my old "twitter" contact, and then re-setup the twitter contact in my IM program from scratch.
Hope this helps...
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Re-adding the gtalk contact worked! Thanks man!
Now back to complaining about my too chirpy contacts.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I can't get anywhere with this either. I've tried adding twitter@twitter.com, and enabling it through my twitter settings, but it seems that the chat bot is not online because I cannot im the text code to verify my account.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? Thanks jeremiah. Re-adding the twitter contact in gtalk helped me, too.
I’m thankful.

Inappropriate?twitter@twitter.com has not accepted my invitation - it's been a few hours and i've tried inviting it twice
-
Inappropriate?twitter im is back. good job.
-
Inappropriate?Okay, I have finally got it. It wasn't very clear to me how to add twitter as a Google Talk contact. If I went into my GMail contacts, created a new contact, and entered 'twitter@twitter.com' under instant messaging, then chose GTalk it would not work.
If I instead I 'invited' twitter to chat using the little GTalk widget on the left side of gmail, it worked (and produced a bounced invite email from twitter).
Very strange.
I’m happier, but still confused
-
Inappropriate?Has anyone been able to get Gtalk working using a Google Hosted Domain setup? I can get it going with my regular old email, but not my "special" one.
I’m annoyed.
-
Inappropriate?Hi Matthew. Someone else has apparently encountered the same problem and figured out the answer in a separate thread for discussions regarding Gtalk and Google Hosted / Custom Domains.
I’m in a good mood
