Twitter should implement the use of filters.

If there is use of filters, it would allow better control of what you want to see in different streams that could be in the form of tabs, below the text box.

I know that filters have been applied in other applications like TweetDeck and TwitHive, but TweetDeck is an application you have to install and TwitHive is all online based. It would be useful if it was actually on your own Twitter homepage.

This would be highly beneficial for those who are following those who tweet a lot, you may just want to filter and read a certain topic quite like the search feature. For example the filtering would allow you to separate the people you are following into groups e.g. friends, family, co-workers e.t.c.
