Twitter support unresponsive on suspended account
My account is suspended, and Twitter Support has not got back for 3 days now!
Account name: http://twitter.com/geetesh
I saw their TOS and I don't think I have violated anything -- however I have linked to my own site, and I'm guessing that is OK.

Inappropriate?Hey Geetesh -
Myself and many others have recently posted the EXACT same problem and it is all around the same timing - April 22nd. I have written Twitter support which appears to be automated more than 50x with the details below. Looking for support from a real person not an automated response, hoping @crystal sees this as she is the Twitter guru from what I can see on the web.
@foxadam
-------------------------------------
On April 22nd around 8:15am EST I signed up as @foxadam. The first problem I had was that I could not upload my photo which apparently is an ongoing issue. I tried several versions from JPG to PNG, to GIF and with sizes ranging from 80k - 700 kb which they tell you is the range to upload on the support page. I kept getting the "Nice picture" and then "The file was too big".
At around 10:30pm on April 22nd, I posted a complaint and looked for support on one of the support strings about the photo upload issue, and while in the middle of writing to support, I clicked on my "home" and then "profile" tab, and noticed that I was in someone elses account who was named "Adam Fox" like myself. All of my followers, and those I was following had been removed. Instead, there were tweets and posts from "Adam Fox" to only one follower, named @brettlarson and the two had had communication back and forth. Then all of a sudden, I was locked out of my account, and I kept getting the error message that my password and username didn't match. I followed the procedure to reset my password, but it kept re-sending me the password instructions. I wrote to support about all of the issues, up until about 11:30pm EST and then went to bed. I wrote to restore@twitter.com and support@twitter.com both of which immediately wrote that my problem was resolved, and to see or update I could log in, but I still can't log in.
The next day on April 23rd at 6:15am EST on April 23rd, I could in fact get into my profile, but it was still without my followers, and still only had
@brettlarson, who is someone I don't even know. It appears as though they mixed up my profile and someone else was using my @foxadam username. I wrote several more support requests, but no response. To be proactive, I deleted @brettlarson, and deleted my account with the intention of restoring my @foxadam profile to normal. Now when I put in my email or my user name @foxadam I am sent an e-mail to restore. When I wrote to
restore@twitter.com I received a response which immediately wrote that
my problem was resolved, and to see or update I could log in, but I
still can't log in.
I assumed my account might have been suspended as I tried to log in
about a dozen times last night with no success so I wrote to
suspended@twitter.com today and received a note that my problem was
resolved, and to see or update I could log in, but I still can't log in.
Considering I had only been on twitter a couple of days, and after about 50+ emails with no response, and several hours of frustration, and problems, I sent a simple request to Twitter support to please permanently delete @foxadam and let me know, so I can start over from scratch.
In response, I get the automated e-mail telling me about how to delete, how to change my password, etc . . . The annoying thing is that I can't log into my account. When I try to restore, I am in the loop as mentioned, and when I get to try to log in after restore, I get a "page does not exist". I can't start over with a new account because it says my e-mail is already in use. My friends / followers that I met on April 22nd see my profile, but says "page does not exist". I asked twitter support to manually delete my e-mail and user name, so I could sign up and get a bunch of automated responses with no luck.
I too am looking for support from @crystal or one of the techs at Twitter to see how I can resolve this mess but apparently no one has been able to help after my 50+ e-mails.
Very frustrating, thankfully facebook has a solid, real-time, support team to avoid such issues, but I want to clear up the Twitter mess as we were trying to launch an online social community for work, and I work with one of the largest tier-one north american consumer packaged goods firms in marketing.
Please advise,
@foxadam

I’m thinking Twitter hates me!
-
Inappropriate?Well, that's very sad -- I wish they had a Pro Twitter account that provided better support -- I would pay for that rather than be at the mercy of getting my account suspended without any communication from Twitter. Ironically, Twitter is all about communication -- just that their support team does not get that part.
I’m blanked

Inappropriate?i'm having that problem too! Only, mine has been like 18 days, if not more!!
I'd like to just delete it, but i don't know how to do that either :(
I’m very upset
-
Inappropriate?how did you get to the page where it shows when you asked for help??
-
Inappropriate?Click the Help option on the Twitter site when you are logged in, and you get to that page.
I’m gloomy

Inappropriate?Geetesh & Elise - What I did was start a completely new account with a completely different email address....then, and only then can you get to support (don't ask why you have to sign on to get support when you can't sign on you can't get support and that's when you need support - it boggles the mind, but there it is!) Anyway, through that I was able to leave a support problem. I remained on that 2nd account for a while, then one day out of the blue (and it took a while) my regular account was up and running. I never heard anythhing from support (except the: "We're working on your account," blah, blah, blah).
But the long and short is that I think they are so totally overwhelmed (it's growing way too fast), that the support staff can't figure out what's what, and when there is a problem (like you receiving or sending too many tweets out or in), then they suspend you first and ask questions later - probably to prevent some problems that Craig's List has.
Anyway, when I had my problem that's how it was resolved. Stay with it, and I'm not kidding it may take weeks not days. Pretty long in this electronic age, but that was my experience and others as well.
Good luck

Inappropriate? Thanks Claire -- but I can log into support. I can also read tweets of the folks I am following -- just that I cannot tweet on my own.
It's sort of pathetic that any one can go and complain about my Twitter account, and the next thing that happens is that the folks at Twitter suspend my account -- they don't mail and tell me that the account is suspended, why it is suspended, and they pay no attention to support. For all purposes, they don't even have the time to check if this account should be suspended or not. Is this how a world class service is supposed to operate?
I’m sympathetic to Twitter -- if this is their state of affairs, they need all the sympathy in this world!

Inappropriate?Yeah, I felt the same way. Their "suspend now and ask later" policy is pretty heavy-handed and it took about 3 weeks or so for them to sort through and find out that there wasn't too much subversive about sewing, fabrics and patterns!!!!
I think they've grown way faster and beyond their capability, or at least that's what I'd like to think - not that they are just inept, and this is why their policy(ies) are so terribly mismanaged. We can only hope that once they grow to manage their "beast" that their policies will reflect a more thought-out and reasonable manner - we can hope.
If you've complained to the support at Twitter, stay with that process. It's horribly slow, but that is how you get the problem resolved.
I’m acquiescent

Inappropriate?Geetesh,
I share your sentiment! It feels like the Web was invented yesterday!
Please keep count!

I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? Thanks Claire and Tan -- I agree Twitter has grown too fast but that's because they provide an amazing option to users. This works great almost all the time, except when it breaks down like it has for me now :(
Have a great day.
I’m still sad
-
Inappropriate? So I receive a canned response from Twitter that does nothing at all!
Wait, they closed my request saying it is resolved! My account is still suspended, and I don't know why? I also don't know what happened to my request -- so why did they close a request they did not address? Or is sending an automated canned response (and that takes 20 days too!) a good enough reason to close a request?
I’m curious why it takes Twitter 20 days to send a canned response?
-
Inappropriate? So I am back to square one with no support requests and no solutions? Do I need to wait another 20 days to hear from them again? Will I get a canned response, or will someone actually look into this issue?
I’m going to pinch myself again to make sure this can be believed!
-
Inappropriate? The same thing account to my younger brothers account at http://twitter.com/sizzler_chetan , is it completely gone or a temporary issue?
-
Inappropriate?I have the same problem about 9 hours ago. I had added feedmytwitter a few days before. If this is the reason then why is twitter allowing it as one of their pages. I am not happy because I was getting into some significant conversations.
I’m sick of the little bird
-
The only other cause may be I have been using a PC and a laptop to use my twitter account. -
My account is still being investigated for strange activity. What ever that is. I have had not contact yet. -
Inappropriate?Just curious - this ever get resolved? I'm a week into my suspension now and I'm wondering how long I'll be waiting.
I’m frustrated
-
There's no set time. It depends upon what triggers the suspension - it could be any number of things. Stay with it, if this is just a trigger, it will be resolved. If it isn't resolved, they will tell you and tell you why. I know it's immensely frustrating, but I think this is probably the best they can do right now...alas they aren't getting any stimulus funds! OK, that's not funny - but you hafta laugh or you'll be bald from pulling all your hair out! -
Inappropriate? Not yet resolved -- it's 13 days since my second request -- but it says "Being Addressed", whatever that means!
I’m depressed
-
Inappropriate?Good luck Geetesh. I'm at the beginning of the tortuous path. My account BestOfTowitter was suspended 3 days ago after just one month. I suspect it was because I was too successful in gaining followers but will I ever know? So far I’ve raised one ticket which was closed without resolution, only a standard e-mail that told me nothing and had the cheek to tell me to raise a ticket if I had a problem. They have no concept of good customer relations. Do they? I have now raised a 2nd ticket asking why the first ticket was closed and asking for an answer. I expect this will go the same way as the first. I’ve also started a thread on this forum. I hope to see you tweeting soon but I’m not holding my breath.
I’m very angry and frustrated
-
Inappropriate? So Twitter closed my second support request -- they say it is "Solved", but they solved nothing -- they just sent the same stock reply that they sent for the first request. If all they do is send stock replies, why do they need 20 days to do that?
Is a Twitter account worth so much hassle? I don't know.
I’m sympathetic towards the people at Twitter who clearly lack any direction
-
Inappropriate?Twitter Officially Sucks. What the hell did they set up this account with Get Satisfaction for in the first place? Do they take pleasure in our gripes? They must, because this forum serves absolutely no apparent purpose! I think I will begin an anti-Twitter campaign using a similar micro-blogging format to theirs. If I set up a Shout'em account, and I can get enough suspended Twitterers, I would work day and night towards their ruin. Hmm, no. I'll sleep on it. Come up with a better idea in the morning.
I’m You Don't Wanna Know!
-
Inappropriate? Thanks Thunder X, I most certainly don't want to cause any ruin to them. Especially if they are capable of doing that without help from anyone else :) Anyway, I'm still hoping that they will help me resolve my issue.
I’m numb and blanked
-
Inappropriate? Thus is what I am talking about Geetesh. Early this morning Twitter reinstated my account, no explanation why it was suspended or why it was un-suspended. I received a stock email letter that made no sense. I'm happy the issue was resolved, but I do not appreciate the fact that I could be suspended once again without notice because I have no idea what I have done in the first place to warrant a suspension.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?Ok so this is very interesting. My account has also been suspended and I have no idea why. My site is a parody site of the Premier of Sth Australia (he's a real wanker so he deserved a parody of himself!). Anyway, I assumed the reason for the suspension was because the Premier himself, who I am making fun of, had complained to the powers that be at Twitter-land. I wouldnt be surprised (I had nearly 1,800 followers!!). Anyway, I was really bummed when my a/c was suspended and Im sure alot of my fans were too. The thing is, even though I constantly took the piss out of him, I never broke any impersonation rules. I had no idea it would be so easy for some dick to get someone elses profile suspended. Maybe I should do the same to him! Actually I think I will!!!
I went through same process as Geetesh and others on this thread. Same outcome..... My request was just closed with no action and I am still suspended. So Ive submitted 2nd request and I suppose no prizes for guessing what is likely to happen next!
How annoying & frustrating!
I’m Going to kick my neighbours cat!
-
I am certain it had nothing to do with your lampooning the Premier Joy. If you look throughout this entire forum, you will see many who are clueless as to why their accounts have been suspended. I should be happy the ban has been lifted on my account, but it is uncomfortable to not know why or what offense I have committed to warrant a suspension in the first place. I have said elsewhere, their shoot first ask questions later policy is wrong. Even criminals are informed of the reasons for their arrest and subsequent prosecution. -
Inappropriate?I received an email this morning from Twiter Support. Below is an excerpt:
Twitter is a free service, and we can't answer every email we receive; we do try to help with problems of broken accounts as much as possible. If you have a question that wasn't answered in our FAQs or help resources, please open a feedback ticket and let us know, and we'll try to add it to our FAQs as soon as possible.
If you have a problem with your account, please open a problem ticket and include as many details as you can. It may take awhile for us to get to your request, but we'll try our best.
Thanks,
Twitter Support
My account was reinstated with no explanation of why it was suspended or what changed their minds about the suspension. As evidenced by the response from Twitter above, it seems any issues we have with Twitter will simply have to wait, nor can we expect detailed personal responses because they are a free service. This means they can not possibly hire a team to handle the volume of questions and issues relating to their service. Basically, we all need to be mindful that, for the most part, no one is behind the wheel at Twitter. We take our chances when we open Twitter accounts. We could be banned today reinstated next month, or never. I think this needs to be spoken about within the blogging community so that others will know what they're in for before they spend so much time setting up an account and building networking relationships that could all be gone in the blink of an eye.
I’m indifferent
-
Your sum-up is probably right on - although we don't know for sure, however I imagine that because it is a free service, we are left to our own devices to get un-suspended. I'm sure the ranting provides some relief, but doesn't do much to accelerate any reinstatement. The truth is that a myriad of different things can set the alarms off for Twitter which results in suspension first and questions later. It's not a good system, but it is free and you get what you pay for. They will probably solve the problem with a paid Twitter service or paid support and I'm sure that would bring about an equal amount of rants on this and other sites. -
You are probably right. What surprises me is that a US company deletes subscribers without any reason. It seems to me to be the behaviour of a totalitarian organisation. The sort of behaviour the US has publicly rejected from Communist governments for the past 50 years and now has extended to undemocratic regimes. -
You may say Twitter is free. I have never earned a penny from my use of Twitter to make me wish to pay anything. There seem lots of people who offer applications for use on Twitter for cash. Perhaps that is the way twitter could earn some money. Otherwise Header or footer adds would be an unreasonable inconvenience. -
I agree there should be warning about that! -
I think the above sums up TWITTER's service in a nutshell. At least the Monster Raving Looney Party talk more sense. What is suspicious activity anyway. Twitter gives rubbish service and does not provide the facilities one needs themselves like automatic adding. When i read thunders comments I am feeling the same to start blogging about how useless TWITTER is. I suppose that is why it has the name twit in it for "a foolish person." This is another interpretation, http://www.urbandictionary.com/define... or http://www.urbandictionary.com/define... -
Still no answer from twitter. Twitter is not having a dawn chorus these days. -
Inappropriate? My account has been suspended since May 21, 10 days without any new aid. I saw full account be suspended for no reason because of their internal policy. How far will it go. renardblanc
-
I can sympathise Panthera . The alternative is to create another account, many people have done that.
In one way I am glad because I can get on with other things. I wanted to automate it to concentrate on my important contacts. I have found Linkedin a very effective alternative for my business side, but Twitter has its own benefits. -
Inappropriate?OK I created a new Twitter account, and posted a new support request! Hope this works.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I have the same problem as you do, but mine is only 20 days old . I'm really curious if addressing them from a new twitter account will work.
Anyway, if i were to delete the account, will i be able to register the same name afterwards ? That's a last solution option, but just in case...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Andrei, that's a lot of questions that have no answers on the Twitter help site! And of course, you are not the only one who wants the answers to those questions.
I’m philosophical
-
Inappropriate?I still have no Twitter account.
Twitter should not suspend good accounts. They should only suspend bad accounts. -
Inappropriate?Even after creating a second Twitter account and opening a new support request -- the support system is still unresponsive.

IT EXPLAINS A LOT ABOUT DEAD PARROTS.
TWITTER is a dead PARROT ! -
Inappropriate? Finally, I got my account back! Thanks to everyone for all your kind words and support.
I’m happy
-
You lucky bastard! Who did you have to sleep with in Twitter-land to get such special treatment then? -
Inappropriate?I am still suspended and I am pretty fucking pissed off about it by now. It's been almost a month and I have sent various follow-up requests and still no result. I would gladly show my tits to some Twitter executive, IF I thought it would do any good. I would go further, but I already feel like I've been fucked over by these sons of bitches, so I wouldnt want to give them any further pleasure!
-
I have just lost interest the Parrot has died.

Twitter is a pain - A month has past - they are so arrogant they cannot send an interim report. They have a great business plan. -
I don't think anyone at Twitter is interested in tits. Do you maybe have some collectible urban vinyl from an obscure Japanese designer no one's ever heard of? -
Twitter does not talk at all or sing for that matter -
Inappropriate?I think Twitter does listen -- but you have to persistent and patient with them, and that's not easy at all!
I’m thinking aloud
-
I have given up and do not care any more. It is twitters loss - they may regret it one day. -
Inappropriate?I have also had two separate accounts suspended. am not sure, but it is possible that the same person (a former business partner I am in the process of suing) had me shut down due to links to my website.
he had godaddy shut the sight down due to 'copyright infringement' without holding a copyright registration. the sight(s) are back up as of 3 weeks ago, but twitter has not paid attention to my complaints so far. it appears my only recourse is to get this resolved as part of my lawsuit.
it seems absurd to me that anything can be claimed on the internet about anybody and it is shoot first & ask questions ---- never. no investigation by twitter. twitter. twitter -
Inappropriate?I have this problem too. I really don't think Twitter cares about it's members. It has been 3 months (and 3 support tickets - one a month), and I am still suspended for some unknown reason! Hopefully, someone at Twitter will see me posting on here! :)
What do I have to do to get the suspension removed?
Is it even worth it anymore???
Is it just me, or is this slander?

Sometimes they are so rude as to keep you waiting a month and never replying to a ticket.
