Back offline already. Its been up and down a few times since I posted this, but not more then a minute or two.

I'm sorry, but twitter@twitter.com is still offline. Now it's about a month, I think. I'm using Adium on OS X with a Jabber account.

That's wired. Now I can write Messages to Twitter, but the twitter@twitter.com contact in my Buddylist is still Offline. Half the Problem is solved :)

I use two different clients. On my PC and laptop, I use Trillian, and twitter@twitter.com has been showing as offline for a month or two now. Surprisingly, I can still receive followed tweets and send updates (though my client will warn me that my contact is not available).

On my BlackBerry, I use JiveTalk. Twitter@twitter.com shows as online there without a problem.

Weird.

Same issue--I've tried deleting and re-adding the contact to my desktop client (Meebo), to no avail. I still get & send updates, even though it says it's offline.

I am still having this problem I have tried the gTalk web interface, Adium and several different types of accounts. Normal Google accounts and Google App accounts. Still nothing. Please resolve.

Twitter IM was taken offline on May 23, 2008 to give Twitter a chance to stabilize after a database server error.

hey .. i am new to twitter .. heard a lot about it .. cant make it work with gtalk .. hope twitter@twitter.com comes online soon :(

Perhaps if twitter@twitter.com is offline it would be nice for twitter to put that in the properties dialog. Is there a status page that we can find out about it? Perhaps their blog?

Yes, unfortunately, IM is still offline, so it's not a problem with your account, but rather a problem with the Twitter IM service itself.

You can see the status of the various Twitter services on the Twitter Status blog at http://status.twitter.com

Also, you may want to follow the main "Twitter IM is offline" thread since that has the most replies and is likely to be where further announcements will be made.
