Twitter's Unfollow is Broken

I had recently reactivated my account and had an old follower that I don't want to appear on my list. How do I get rid of this person? I don't want to see his tweets but I cannot unfollow him!

Same problem here, happening after an account reactivation too.

I just found out that if you try to follow again the person you are receiving the updates from, you get a "following" status. If you click there just , you get the option to remove the contact.

I tried to follow again my old follower contact, but there isn't an option to unfollow! What's going on? I cannot unfollow unless I block that person. This is annoying.

This occurs when you try to unfollow in bulk (again an spamming trick - first follow, then unfollow)

I did not do a bulk unfollow. I tried to unfollow someone, I got the "an error happened" message, and now that person does not show in my "following" list, BUT all their updates are still showing on my home thread. I cannot re-follow them to attempt to re-drop them. (It says I am successful, but nothing changes.) They're just stuck on my home threads, and I can't get get rid of them.

I also have this problem. I am trying to unfollow someone, but when I go to their web page it says I am not following them even though their tweets show up in my timeline. If I follow them (in the hopes that I can then unfollow them), it still does not show me following them even though I refresh the page. When I go to MY follow page, they are not listed in my followers; however there tweets show up in my timeline. The only option I have left is block which seems a little drastic considering I just want to unfollow.

I did not bulk unfollow either.

And I have not had a recent account activation.

I too have unfollowed someone, their username does not appear in my 'friends' list, but their tweets are still appearing in my timeline. I have - repeatedly - tried to follow and then immediately unfollow them, to see if that would reset things, (as well as logging out and in again, too), but I am still getting their tweets - and don't want them! Besides blocking them, what else can I do? Is this an ongoing Twitter bug?

I'm having the same problem as badkitty_ - I've unfollowed someone, but I'm still getting their tweets.

1: I cannot Unfollow anyone - example:
When I visit, for example, @debdiego and try to unfollow I get a javascript error message: "Line: 144; Char: 1; Error: Object expected; Code: 0; URL: http://twitter.com/debdiego" 2: I cannot Follow anyone - there is no pop up window advising me of any following limit and I have not seen one on this account since before mid-December. I am not using a pop-up blocker. I press follow and nothing whatever happens. 3: I cannot Block anyone: I get the "Something is technically wrong message". I have Twitter autofollow (enabled Dec 24, 2008) which fails also when manual follow fails, so the problem is on the Twitter server. Follow, Unfollow and Autofollow suddenly started working earlier today for a short while then became unavailable again.

Any news on this, Twitter?

Same problem. Everything says I've unfollowed this guy, yet his tweets still keep appearing on my homepage. I've tried blocking, typing "off twitterhandle". Nothing.

I have been trying to unfollow the people who are flooding too much with stuff I am not interested in - unable to unfollow any. Not even 1.

I have this problem too, but not on everyone. It only seems to be on older people I've followed, not more recent ones.

I'm having the very same FRUSTRATING and ANNOYING problem. When is Twitter going to fix this nuisance?

I'm @macartisan - when I block spammers, they don't disappear from my follower list. They show both 'Follow' and 'Unblock' buttons.

Several of these spammers have used a hack to have my account follow them without my consent, and for these, my following list show that I am still following the spammer after the block.

PLEASE FIX!!
