Inappropriate? It's only disappeared from the Inbox, however: so I now can't delete Direct Messages others have sent to me.
I can still delete Direct Messages I've Sent, though.
This is now consistent with the rest of Twitter:
I can delete what I've written - but not the tweets written by other users.
I’m highly intrigued...
-
Haha! Guess this means I won't be deleting your DMs for you, Eridanus. 8-) -
That's what I'd - er - feared!
Now you'll just have to ask nicely 8-> -
Inappropriate? If someone writes a not so nice direct message, you have to sit there and see it on your screen forever?! Just wondering...how do these problems become resolved? Does staff see these questions?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? If the new DM behavior is consistent with the existing Replies behavior, then blocking the sender of the DM should theoretically remove the offending DM from your DM inbox.
I haven't actually tried doing that, though, so I can't say for sure -
Inappropriate?Thank you for the suggestion :) It is someone that I don't want to block, though, completely. I just want to get rid of some painful memories.
-
Inappropriate?I'm also unable--since yesterday--to deleted DM's. No bin option available.
I’m optimistic it will be fixed?
-
Inappropriate? The more I think about this, the more this (that we can no longer delete messages from our DM Inbox) feels like a deliberate change on Twitter's part, rather than a bug
As Eridanus pointed out above, in all other pages on Twitter, we can only delete tweets that we have written. Since the tweets in the DM Sent are written by us, we can still delete them.
The tweets in our DM Inbox, however, are written by others...
The same principle applies with the Replies page -- we're not able to delete any tweet that's in our Replies page because those @replies are all written by other people.
I’m having mixed feelings about this change
-
Inappropriate?I cannot delete direct messages sent to me.. Where's the trash.. Please put it back up!
-
Inappropriate?I believe this is a bug. It has cropped up before. I do not think this is a "deliberate change by twitter" as speculated by mdy.
Twitter, please fix this! I prefer to keep my DMs at ZERO. I delete ALL of them. That way, if I have a new DM, I will notice it.
Please return this feature to us. I currently have no trash icon for my DM inbox, as of yesterday.

Inappropriate? After reading the comments, it seems that none of us can really answer it, so I sent an e-mail to Twitter's Help and think that everyone here should do the same. If it's a bug OR change, they should post an announcement since it's been days.
-
Inappropriate?I was able to delete direct messages sent to me via TWEETDECK (but not able to do so via the web interface). Feels like a bug to me. In any case, I've cleaned out my collection of today's stalker messages and am happy once more.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?yeah this is really annoying. In the flock browser, it keeps popping up and telling me I have a new message, when all it is is the old dm that I can't delete.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I don't want any old direct messages in my inbox. I like to keep the inbox clean so I can tell if I new messages or not. Please return the delete option to the direct message inbox.
I’m rather upset with this.
-
Inappropriate?I know that it's still possible to delete direct messages sent to me by other people. I was able to delete them using Twhirl. But there is no option on the web interface to delete them (the little garbage can icon).
Has anyone from Twitter seen this question? Can we please get a response as to what's going on?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?I can't figure out how to delete my direct messages either. How do I delete them? I do not use Twitter enough to know how to do this.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I would also like to delete DM's. Where is the trash can? Please put it back!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? What's strange is that if I hit the sent tab I have a trash can. However in my received ones I can't delete them. It's been like this for almost a week.
