Inappropriate? Some carriers in some countries block SMS text messaging to Twitter's short numbers (USA: 40404; Canada: 21212 etc.) - but in some cases the user can ask the carrier to remove the block.
So please let us know
• Your country
• The Twitter number (40404, 21212, +44...) you use for SMS text messaging
• Your Twitter username
and I (or someone else) may be able to help you further. -
Inappropriate?Country - India
Twitter number - 5566511
Twitter username - werty37
Thanks -
Inappropriate? It appears that only some Indian mobile phone carriers (please click) support Twitter's 5566511 shortcode for India - but I don't know if Aircel is on the current list, since the thread on Indian mobile carriers hasn't been updated in 6 months.
If the above links don't help, you may find something useful in one of the other threads that is tagged 5566511, india or aircel.
Solutions which recommend using Twitter's international +447624801423 number may allow you to send SMS text messages (including the verification code) to Twitter, but you will receive no SMS from that number. However, you may be able to use one of the other paid or unpaid alternatives for messages to and from Twitter.
As I'm in Germany, I'm not too familiar with the Indian mobile phone carriers, so it might be worthwhile tweeting to ask your Indian followers if they know whether Aircel supports Twitter - (perhaps including this link to your original question), and checking your @Replies tab from time to time just in case any non-followers have any tips for you.
I've just tweeted the messageDoes Aircel (India) support Twitter's 5566511 shortcode? @werty37 at http://gsfn.us/t/o5s would like to know. Replies to @werty37, please!
from my Twitter account - though I don't know if anyone in India reads my tweets.
I'm still hoping that an Indian Twitter user may see your question and post here, too. Perhaps someone else uses Aircel and can tell you more.
I’m hoping that helps a little.
