Usability Issue: URL shortening
It would be great if the URLs could be shortened automatically when you paste them into the text field. Otherwise at the moment you paste a long URL and the text field gets disabled - you can't type anything more and neither you can publish the text....

Inappropriate? You may want to try using Lizzer (http://lizzer.com) to automatically shorten the URLs you post into Twitter. Lizzer is a free bookmarklet tool that works with that lets you easily search and find a wide array of content (images, youtube videos, images from flickr account, Delicious links, docstoc docs, etc. etc.) and then easily insert them into your email or blog. Hope this helps!

Inappropriate? The filed is not disabled any more.
I think it should only shorten URLs that are 30+ or shorten them via a special button. -
Inappropriate? You could also try TweetDeck, the desktop Twitter program. It has a box where you can enter your URL, choose your shortener website and click shorten. It will also insert your shortened URL into your tweet.
