What does "nudge" mean?

Was looking at my Twitter followers this morning and for one of them I had selections for "Send Direct Message" and another one for "Nudge." Not sure what the latter one is all about.

Inappropriate?

I've never gotten a nudge, but as I understand it, it's just a way to remind someone to update Twitter. Say you notice someone you follow hasn't updated in a while... you nudge them and they'll get a message to the effect of "why don't you post to Twitter."
