What happens right after I register my cell phone for first time - flooded by public timeline?
So, I am curious exactly what happens after you register your cellphone with Twitter (assuming you have already registered online, have an account, and want to get your cellphone into the fun). I know you can send private messages and track things (as soon as Tracking is back up), but my question is that what happens *right* after you get registered with Twitter...with 1000-ish messages coming into Twitter's public timeline per second, I can't image these are going to start hammering my phone -- am I defaulted to the Public Timeline right away (before I start tracking people, things, etc. on a more specific basis) and if so, how often do I get the public timeline messages? Thanks in advance! I just can't seem to get my head around what will happen after I have registered my phone but before I track people, keywords, etc. Thanks in advance!

Inappropriate?Hello. You don't receive updates from the public timeline on your phone via sms, so there's no danger of flooding there.
You only receive sms updates from people you've chosen to follow, AND this is only if you've turned on device notifications for them. When we first follow someone, Twitter by default sets device notification to OFF.
Also, you have an option to set your phone to just "direct messages only," "ON," or "OFF." If you've set your phone to "direct messages only" then you don't receive updates from others, only direct messages.
