What is wrong with XMPP?
When will XMPP be working again so Hashtags and other services work with Twitter?

I think so. -
Inappropriate?Twitter IM is still down, yes. Twitter has been posting daily updates on the status of their service restoration efforts at http://status.twitter.com

Inappropriate? We're still working on this - it's the top of the list.
We're just not quite there yet. Also, we'll first be restoring XMPP for individual users before restoring the public timeline feeds that some third-party services rely on.

Inappropriate?Any timeline on this? Cause we're ready to roll out a new version of hashtags, but obviously we can't current test it or run a beta.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Sorry that I can't provide a more definite timeframe. Once we get IM restored for individual users we'll have a better idea.

Inappropriate?I've given up on it, we're almost done with a new bot system for hashtags and we'll be pulling in data from other sources as well. I hope to have it done by this weekend.

I would just use summize (now twitter search), they get the full twitter feed so there's no reason not to use them. I wouldn't mind if Summize got a way to re-distribute jabber pubsub, though. -
Inappropriate? Please bring back hashtags. So many people are still using hashtags on twitter without realizing that it's been dead since July 10th!!! All of those valuable tweets for #Gnomedex and now the #DNC08 are wasted. This shouldn't be such a big deal or take this long. The benefits are well worth the effort for Twitter so it makes no sense not to do it. Thanks.

Yes, I know summize (search.twitter.com) works great as does TweetScan but there's so much more that Hashtags can do now if twitter allows it. Checkout the way it does aggregated media from hashtags: http://thepaisano.com/aggregated-mult... -
Inappropriate? We had a lot more features planned for the new version to help build a community. Hopefully we'll get it turned on soon
I’m peturbed

Inappropriate?Honestly, Hashtags was the best use of Twitter created to date. I think some explanation of why its been crippled by what would seem to be a simple functionality. Is Twitter planning to do this service themselves, or is fixing it even a priority? Four months is a long time, especially without any idea of what's holding things up.
I’m frustrated
