When will the device IMs come back?
The more people who ask this question, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate? There's no official announcement yet, unfortunately.
As of three weeks ago, Twitter stated that IM was their highest priority feature to restore.
Our planned maintenance window was a success and we’ve added some capacity to our cluster. Still more upgrades and expansions to do.
We’re hopeful that once we’ve improved the stability of the service we can bring back IM. It remains the highest priority feature we’re working to restore. -
Inappropriate?i'm waitin' for such a long time
i just like use gtalk to send my tweet...
sigh..
thank you. mdy

Inappropriate?Good news -- you *can* use Gtalk to send your tweet if you sign up with http://ping.fm (it's free right now). Invite code is currently "pingadactyl"
You won't be able to receive Twitter updates, though. But at least you're halfway there. 8-) -
Inappropriate?@mdy
i've got ping.fm but i found that some of other language is not very compatible with it, like chinese and japanese
but i can only use ping.fm or twitterific, and waiting for the IMs -
Ah. That's too bad. Maybe you can request ping.fm to support other languages...? They've got a contact form at http://ping.fm/contact/ -
Many people have raised this issue, and this problem arise only occasionally -
Hi. In case you were referring to the ping.fm invite code, it's now "pingitlikeitshot" (without quotes) -
Inappropriate?i told the twitter site to start over... now IM isn't even an option.
are they phasing it out completely? it's been offline for what now... 3 months? -
Inappropriate?Native Twitter IM support will be back when I can reach up my own butt and pull out a turkey sandwich.
I’m not confident that Twitter will prove me wrong.
-
Inappropriate?hmmm... obviously this is not such a priority for them at the end of the day
I’m considerably annoyed by apathy..
-
Inappropriate?Seemingly it went from top priority to being a taboo subject. There have been no updates on the main thread on this problem or status.twitter.com. I can only suggest sending a request to the http://twitter.com/help page to help remind them that there are users who really want this feature back.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?otherwise try this:

Inappropriate?Jabber IM is THE best interface for Twitter. It doesn't produce any load as it only transfers data when something is actually sent. No need to constantly poll the servers for tweets. IT fits with the IM client of one's choice.
Sad to see the only conveniently usable interface for twitter is still down.
If it is really bundled with the Duke it will be awarded a lifetime achievement vaporware award by Wired Magazine.
I’m frustrated, yet hopeful!
-
Inappropriate? If you're in South Africa, you can stil add the twitter buddy (0831252211) to your noknok im client.
-
Inappropriate?come on twitter folks, SMS went for ROW and still no IM so basically no push client.
Sure the API limit went up a bit but IM was still the best interface for work
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I don't live in a browser and I don't want to have to rely on a GUI. So the IM gateway is essential for me; without it I just don't use Twitter.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I agree with everyone. I was up in arms when SMS was removed, and there's no IM forthcoming - it's been, what, 4 months now since IM went down? What the hell is happening over there at Twitter HQ?
I’m pissed off
-
Inappropriate?I just joined solely to follow Slate's Twitter feed in my instant messaging programming, and the functionality doesn't work? Can I cancel my account? I see no reason to keep another account I'll never use.
I’m annoyed
