When will TwitterIM be back? I've gotten the following message the past few days: "TwitterIM is under maintenance at the moment. Please check back later."

I'm using it successfully right now; try signing out of chat (not gmail, just chat) and logging back in to refresh your presence information. If that doesn't work, try removing the Twitter contact from your list, and re-adding it.

Inappropriate?If the maintenance message is coming from AIM, it's because we're not supporting AIM presently; you'll have to use Jabber or Gmail's chat. It is working:

Try the following things:
1. sign out of chat (not Gmail, just the chat) and sign back in, to renew presence information.
2. send ON in the chat window
3. send an update to see if it posts to Twitter

my updates are ok, but I don't receive my friends updates and direct messages :(
and i never used aim, it's just jabber (and not that provided by gmail)

Inappropriate?I don't have a problem using Jabber to send posts. My problem is when inviting someone (Mum/sister) to use Twitter, who have iChat set to AIM only -- which they are perfectly satisfied with.
Telling them they need to set up a Jabber account in iChat, and add twitter@twitter.com (mostly likely the only contact on their contact list) is a big turn off for them.

If you're using Trillian, it's buggy with seeing the Twitter bot for some reason.

Inappropriate?Twitter IM is online for me right this moment and in recent months has been quite reliable.
Are you still experiencing this problem? If yes, some of the suggestions in this related thread might help.

Inappropriate?When I go to Settings/Devices, I don't have the IM option. Only mobile. And setting that up never resulted in anything.

Inappropriate?Hello. Twitter has temporarily removed the IM settings from the Devices page while Twitter IM is still offline, so that people aren't misled into thinking that they can verify their IM.
In the latest blogpost at the Twitter Status blog, they say restoring IM remains their top priority. -

No word yet as of now. But I'm hoping it will be soon because the API limit has been raised to 100 requests per user per hour, we're getting fewer fail whales, and the site uptime has been good this week. I suggest checking http://status.twitter.com for updates.

Inappropriate?Cannot contact twitter@twitter.com at all any longer. Getting the message "Unable to deliver message. Server reports: (404) (none)". Not getting any updates on either my IM *OR* my phone and both are configured properly. What gives?

Inappropriate?Angelzero, IM is offline for the moment, so any attempts to verify your IM won't be successful.
However, you should be able to verify your phone. Perhaps this Twitter FAQ page will help: Troubleshooting: I can't verify my phone.
