where's the user search feature?
I simply want to find folks I know who might be on Twitter. There's supposed to be a User Search function, but I don't know where it is. Any clues?

Inappropriate?Hi Seth,
There are 2 ways.
1. Login and when you're on the home page @ https://twitter.com/, on the right side panel, there's a "People" section, right under the "Stats" section. There you can enter any text to search.
2. Let Twitter go through your (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo) addressbooks. Login and go to https://twitter.com/invitations
Hope this helps,
ThomasHan

Inappropriate?it doesn't work very well. or maybe it just takes a long time to index. i signed up a month ago and my profile doesn't show up when people search for either my username or my real name. what gives?
-
Inappropriate? It doesn't work. It's not that it doesn't work well, but rather that it just doesn't work. My sister and I have tried to find each other by user name and it doesn't work.
I’m not kidding.

Inappropriate?hi juju & spicetrader,
Here's another option. Try a 3rd party tool, like this one. You can search for either updates (tweets) or for users.

Inappropriate? Thanks Thomas... Terraminds finds my sister when I search in updates, but not when I search in users.
I’m of mixed feelings
-
Inappropriate?Hi spicetrader,
Glad TerraMinds worked. Here's another one that you could try, similar functionality. TweetScan.com
Have fun :-) -
Inappropriate?still no dice. this must be a deliberate decision on twitter's part, right? i just can't imagine that something as mundane as searching for a user, whether by username or real name, could be buggy. then again, if this were the case you wouldn't expect them to have a people search box. silliness...
-
Inappropriate?hi juju,
Just curious, what is your username and full name? And your Twitter account is not private, right? -
Inappropriate?thanks for looking, thomas.
user: edverity
name: jonathanverity -
Inappropriate?ps. i really want to find user/name: relb254_081_4
-
Inappropriate?Try this url http://twitter.com/relb254_081_4
It's the only way I've found juju. I guess you are on the phone.
I’m calm
-
Inappropriate?Hi juju (Jonathan),
Hmm.. it is weird. I'm also not able to find you using either username (edverity) or your full name (jonathanverity) with Twitter's native search via the twitter.com web.
Then I tried it on Terraminds.com and still nothing.
Finally when I tried it on Tweetscan by putting only 'edverity' in the second text box, then I could see your tweets.

Anyways... still not clear to me why we can't find you within Twitter's search feature.

Inappropriate?Did Twitter remove the search box? It's disappeared from my Twitter homepage...
-
Inappropriate?Hi Chris O'Brien,
Twitter did a little bit of page redesign yesterday, seems like GetSatisfaction did as well.
The search box is on top of the page now -
Inappropriate?Ah, I found it...but it's not at the top...it's at the very bottom, below the "about us" menu box.
-
Inappropriate?I've been looking for the "User Search" function for a few days now...if it does exist, it is very well hidden. I hope this function is available one day soon as email addresses change often and folks usually have more than one email address.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate? There should be a user search box at the very top of your Twitter home page when you're logged in at http://twitter.com/home
If you can't see it, try this URL and change the search parameter as needed.
