Which carriers do you support in Japan?
SMS in Japan only works within a carrier network. Which carrier do I have to be with in order to use the Twitter international number for SMS alerts?

I also use NTT DoCoMo -
Inappropriate? My Softbank phone can't seem to send messages to the international number (+447624801423).... is there something I need to input where the + is, like a country code? How do I modify the number so that the message will go through?
-
Inappropriate? What is Twitter's SMS number for Softbank Japan then? As mentioned in the original question, in Japan you can only SMS people who have the same carrier as you.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?softbank users - it's about 100 yen per SMS TO an international number. On the other hand, it's free to receive SMS FROM international numbers.
Twitter really needs a local J-number so we can SMS on the cheap.
@Twitter officials - 100 yen is basically $1
I’m kinda let down
-
Inappropriate?Still no support for DoCoMo. Can we either have a local SMS or how bout a simple email gateway? That seems easier? No?
I’m less than impressed.
-
Inappropriate?I have AU. Hope service will be added for them as well.

Inappropriate?Within japan, SMS is a dinosaur. Everyone sends email from their mobile phones. Twitter should have an online mobile phone friendly version like most japan based websites.

Brown_Monkey, there is a mobile site at: http://m.twitter.com
I think an email gateway (that cuts off messages at 140 characters) would be a better option for users in Japan, though. -
Inappropriate?http://m.twitter.com doesn't work on my DoCoMo phone. It's impossible to add an alphanumeric password via a DoCoMo phone. Even when I change to an all numeric password the issue persists.

Inappropriate?I believe Japanese users use http://movatwitter.jp (it's mentioned in one of Twitter's blogposts re: Japan) But I don't know if it works with DoCoMo.

Inappropriate? We're aware of the problems and shortcomings of our mobile offerings in Japan, and are currently working to improve our offerings.
For the time being, m.twitter.com (or .jp) does not work with DoCoMo (except on the "Full Browser"), but should work fine with AU, SoftBank, Willcom, etc.
The reason is that DoCoMo's mobile browser does not support cookies, and m.twitter.com relies on cookies. DoCoMo's full browser is OK, as are other mobile browsers from other companies.
Currently, there is work that is going into testing soon that will allow the use of DoCoMo phones with m.twitter.com, so progress is being made on this front.
Personally, I like movatwitter.jp. It works with most any Japanese mobile (including DoCoMo), is well integrated with the GPS and camera found on Japanese mobiles, and even gives you a unique email address you can use to post tweets.
If you prefer to work exclusively over keitai mail, then twittermail.com ought to do the job.
If you have any other twitter-in-Japan related issues, English or Japanese, please don't hesitate to send them in to support@twitter.jp.

Why not simply support sending tweets from email? -
This is definitely on the to-do list, however since there are higher priority things that need to get done (e.g. stability related improvements-- an email gateway won't be much use if twitter is down), it's difficult to say when it'll happen.
For what it's worth though, we are aware of the need, and it is on our radar. -
Inappropriate?I don't have a full browser on my DoCoMo phone, so movatwitter.jp will have to suffice for now. It works now that I switched from a mixed alphanumeric password to one that's purely numeric. Without a full browser there's no way to enter or paste in any other sort of password.
I’m less frustrated
