Why can't recieve SMS from Twitter in the UK
The more people who ask this question, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?i also have the same problem. I am here in the philippines, and our class was using twitter to update everyone. Now, we dropped twitter because of this issue.
-
Inappropriate?I was also unable to verify my phone yesterday. I tried it again this morning and it worked. I can only speculate, but my guess is their sms gateway was temporarily unavailable because of the outages this week.

Inappropriate?also have this problem... since today morning i have not received any updates from my friends yet they are available on the web!!!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi Joash -- I too have stopped receiving sms from Twitter, but it's because I've already hit my 250 sms limit for the week. Is it possible that you've also hit your limit? You can check by logging in to http://twitter.com/home and looking at "Received SMS" on your sidebar.
If you still have sms credits left, can you kindly try sending 'ON' to Twitter from your phone and see if you get a 'notifications are now on' reply? -
Inappropriate?Hi mdy - no i have not hit my limit. i have only got 90 messages this week. so that means i still got some credit....
i tried sending on but nothing happened!!!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Joash, wish I could help you further. Right now, your best bet might be to write a support ticket at http://twitter.com/help
I suggest you include the following info when you write the ticket:
- your username
- your phone company
- your city and country
- URL of the last tweet you were able to post successfully via sms
- URL of the last tweet you received via sms
Fwiw, I just tried sending a tweet to my own account from my mobile phone and it was received by Twitter properly, so it seems the Twitter +44 sms gateway is still able to receive updates from users.
This makes me think it might be a problem that's specific to your account, which is why I suggested logging a support ticket above.
It's puzzling that you should stop receiving messages when you used to get them just fine. To me, that implies that your phone is already verified and the correct device settings are there.
But just to be on the thorough side, you might also want to check the following before submitting a support ticket:
1. Is your phone still listed as verified on your http://twitter.com/devices page? If yes, are device notifications set to ON? And are 'sleep' settings not enabled?
2. On your http://twitter.com/home page, on the sidebar, is 'phone' still selected as the preferred device?
3. In the list of people that you're following at http://twitter.com/friends, are device updates still set to ON for them?
Also, (since I'm enumerating possibilities here), it might be that your phone provider has made some changes to your mobile account that are now preventing Twitter messages from getting through.
Hope the puzzle gets solved soon. -
Inappropriate?mdy, thanks for the advice. actually i started receiving updates again on sunday. i was also able to post to via text....
