Why do I get a request for username and password on my blog?

After adding Twitter to my blog, I get the error message A username and password are being requested by http://twitter.com. The site says: "Twitter API" when I try and access my blog. And when i put in my username and password, it doesn't accept it! what's going on? I've even tried removing the widget and adding it again. Weird.
