why does my twitter avatar keep reverting back to a previous pic though i've changed it?

I changed my twitter avatar yesterday and it keeps reverting back to the old one. I'd love to find out what the problem is. It's not too big and it's the acceptable format. It uploads fine but seems to mysteriously revert back to the pic i uploaded before it.
