Inappropriate?OMG! This totally annoys me. I know some people are able to track because all the sudden people began following me when I starting talking about my Companies merger with another. Grrr, so frustrating.

I think those people must have used Twitter search, which you can find here: http://search.twitter.com -
Inappropriate?Try using the (free 3rd. party) application http://twitter.com/TweetTrak instead.
Follow TweetTrak.
Once TweetTrak follows you back (shouldn't take too long), you can e.g. tweet
d tweettrak @Halohoo
and you will receive a Direct Message of every new tweet that contains the string @Halohoo - which will include all @Replies directed to @Halohoo.
If you'd like to follow up to 9 different selected Twitter streams online simultaneously, you might find TweetGrid useful.
As an example, try clicking
http://tweetgrid.com/grid?l=1&q1=@Halohoo&q2=@Twitter
And there are many other 3rd.-party applications too...
I’m thankful to RyanK for creating TweetTrak

Inappropriate?I used TweetTrak but I found it more annoying than useful.

TweetTrak works in a very similar manner to Twitter's old track command.
So you wouldn't have liked track, either.
