Why won't my allegedly "saved" background picture appear after uploading?
I keep having problems with my "design"-- uploaded a picture for background and all was well, then suddenly it disappeared. I've tried to re-upload that picture, as well as other pictures, and I receive a message that the changes to my profile have been saved, yet when go back to "home" and look at my profile, the background image is not there (just white background). What gives? Tearing my hair out. Thanks for whatever guidance you can give me!

Inappropriate?Hi There. What is your Twitter username? I'll have a look.
-
Inappropriate?Hey Biz Stone. thanks for replying. I'm lisamer.
So curious to know what the problem is/what I have managed to do to eff things up. -
Inappropriate? How big is your background image? It might be too big. Try making it smaller and see if that helps. I'll check back. Otherwise, it could be a bug -- I'll try and see if other folks have noticed anything similar.
-
Inappropriate?file size compliant -- that's not the problemo
Loving the frosted cupcake next to the dialogue box btw. -
Inappropriate?YAY! YAY! YAY!
It's all better now. Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I have this problem too. My background is around 500k, and all i get is a white background.
-
Inappropriate?I'm not sure exactly what this bug is yet because this is only the second time someone has mentioned it. However, you should be able to fix it by going through and picking some custom colors and then saving that design. Let me know if it works.
-
I tried that, but it didn't work=( -
Inappropriate?I've tried lots of images and can't get my picture to show up. I can customise the rest of the page. Can you please help. I know the image is not too big and I've tried various file formats.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?I am having this same issue. Tried many times, all size compliant pics. Im also able to customize the rest of the page.
THanks! -
Inappropriate?I have this problem too, my file is like not even 200k! I'm trying to upload the picture ever since thursday and nothing works=((((
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?i'm having this problem too. file is 168K JPG. i've tried all combos of checkboxes on/off in case it's an interface trick. no luck!. btw my twitter id = markhull http://twitter.com/markhull
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I am having the same problem. Picture is the correct size. I even tried just changing the background color and the saved settings do not hold.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Having the same problem :( Small picture that I want tiled but it's just giving me a white background. Gr.
-
Inappropriate?Ditto. Uploading image, selecting "tile," file-size compliant, upload seems accepted .... but the "background color" still displays. You can't select "no color," and I'm wondering if the background color is superseding the image somehow. I'm doing this for another account, "northjerseynews."
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm also having this problem. File size well within the limit, image not showing up. Any help? Twitter account is "pennsvalley". I've tried changing the dimensions of my image and resaving. I've also tried changing twitter colors and clicking "save" as mentioned above. Nothing. Help!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?just in case this is a client side issue, have you tried to "shift refresh" (that's the key on the keyboard and clicking the refresh/reload in your browser) to see if that clears your cache?
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate?I have tried shift refresh many times unsuccesfully - just recently my background image appeared but the colors are very screwed up. It's supposed to be black and red - and it's grey and turquoise! Help!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I have the exact same problem...I have tried multiple file formats and sizes - all within the stated size guidlines...it says that the upload is complete and saved...then when I check the profile page, the changes aren't effective.
Yes, I have cleared my browser's image cache, still doesn't work.
I’m a little miffed.
-
Inappropriate?I still haven't received any reply on my issue - the background file is up, but it's completely distorted. The colors look almost opposite of what they should be - blue instead of red - grey instead of black...
twitter.com/pennsvalley
Can anyone help me? This should be a simple process... I can't believe it's this buggy.
I’m also miffed
-
Inappropriate?actually I just checked it again.. it's completely gone now. I tried re-uploading it and nothing happened... I'm very interested in using twitter as a communication device for my entire team, but I need the logo to be there.
Please help me, or I am going to have to find another service... it seems too unreliable at the moment.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Same problem on both my accounts. Posted fix doesn't resolve my issue.
I’m HULK ANGRY, WANT TO SMASH TWITTER.
-
Inappropriate?Aren't there twitter employees on here? I wonder how many people have this problem - my guess is a whole lot... will they ever respond?
I’m disillusioned with twitter... thinking of moving on
-
Inappropriate? Was this ever figured out? I can't get my design to come up either, just a white background, no matter what I do.
-
Inappropriate?I realized what my problem was, I don't know if it's the same for you but the JPG file I had used to upload was in CMYK and not RGB. Open the image in Photoshop or some other image editing program and check to see under Image>Mode to see what the color settings are. I worked around it (before I realized the problem) by resaving the file as a png (which had converted it to RGB anyway). Hope this helps!

Inappropriate? It seems that there are enough people having this problem. Twitter needs to fix this. Username=ChristyRuffner
I’m Very Frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm having the same issue, no matter what I do it goes to white background. My image is 100x100 pixels 23.4kb. Makes no sense really. I've tried changing it from JPEG to PNG nothing helps. I've logged in and out nothing helps, cleared cookies... nada.
-
Inappropriate?I am also having this issue...and it is definitely frustrating!
There is *not* a little face below that adequately expresses how I am feeling right now...but if there were it would involve the little face tearing it's hair out...ohh, wait! None of them *have* hair...ahhh now I know why...Kate -
Inappropriate? My background image (it's only about 9KB) won't load. It was working before, but then I went to change it and now it won't upload any background pictures. It just defaults to the background colour.
Help? I'd be so grateful, it's really irritating.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm not exactly 'getting satisfaction' either...
I’m going to stop using Twitter if their customer service sucks this much.
-
Inappropriate?I am having the same issue, why hasn't this been fixed since the first time it appeared 6 months ago?
It's not that big of a problem, but probably should be fixed.
I’m not making that big of a problem out of it as Soror does.
-
Inappropriate?Fixed it!
It was my fault, the sourcecode was right, but i saw the background-color-hex missed a 'zero'.
that's what I did wrong in the change color-panel. you should probably put some kind of check on there, but whatever.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?just read all the comments and have the same problem. 6 months is too long for a problem like this to be fixed

Hi askfelix. Are you by any chance using a .gif background image? I noticed in another thread that people were having trouble uploading .gif avatars, so was wondering if the format was causing problems. -
Inappropriate?funny you should say that because i changed my image from a jpeg to a gif. Also i wanted to change my photo image and now it will not let me. What is going on.
I’m frustrated
-
Yes, it seems that people have the most luck uploading images when they use the .png image format.
In another thread, a Twitter rep says they're looking into the problems related to .gif images... although their focus is on avatars, perhaps the same problem affects background images. Click here to see -
Inappropriate? It's Twitter''s Problem not ours, I uploaded a picture about a hour ago and it's just now showing up, so Twitter needs to upgrade there servers!!! lag time is insane!!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? There is no way around this problem but this: Just re-upload your image as many times as needed until you get it right! I've been through this for 2 weeks now. Preferably you want to work with a .png format.
If you give up, you may come back the next morning and be pleasantly surprised that your image has finally been uploaded somehow.
I’m exhausted
-
Inappropriate?I am also having this issue. Are there any other details regarding a possible "fix"?
I’m not to jazzed with twitter right now
-
Inappropriate?Same issue here...it seemed to be working about 50% of the time but even after clearing my cache, it was uploading a design I'd tried 5 steps down the line. So it does seem to be a delay issue. Granted, today, I haven't been able to upload a single image, no matter how small the size.
I've tried Firefox & Safari - doesn't seem to make a difference and gif, jpeg and png. Same results.
So frustrating! And I'm working on a client project right now...grrr! Not a good time for Twitter to spaz out.
I’m definitely sick of twitter right about now
-
Inappropriate?Same experience here. I tried over and over all day, and switched between browsers (firefox, chrome, safari, I.E.), computers, and platforms (everything from 98SE to Vista, and OSX) just to be sure. I also double checked the image modes, bit modes, looked for hidden channels, tried png, gif, jpg (even "jpeg"), danced by moonlight with a chicken over my head as per the Twitter F.A.Q... nothing seems to work.
And of course on their boards for this problem, the last actual update is April 2nd, not counting all the replies and comments about the problem.
I’m This is a very very basic thing - why can't they make it work?
-
Inappropriate?I'm also having the same problem: can't upload any image (picture or background). Tried several sizes, several formats, nothing seems to be working... It’s nerve-wracking!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?im tired of trying over and over...my photo wont upload but it says thanks great photo. it even uploaded a previous photo i had a while ago when i first started my twitter account and im not sure why.
I’m very upset
-
Inappropriate?I'm having the opposite problem. I posted a photo, didn't like the way it looked and now I can't get it to go away! Help?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I've been trying to upload a background image for months!! None of the photos I've tried will work, and they aren't too big. I've tried my Safari and Firefox browsers. The Twitter design page finds the picc on my computer, and looks like it's uploading (for several minutes), then simply stops. The Firefox browser says the image has been successfully saved; Safari doesn't give me that message -- or any message -- just stops trying to load. This is driving me crazy. Anyone?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I didn't have any problems with Twitter and suddenly I can't change my background or my picture. When I change the background my picture reverts back to the old one. When I change my picture my background either goes blank or goes back to the old one. See a profile picture for me? I thought not! GRRRRRRRRRR!
I’m stoked about Twitter! NOT!
-
Inappropriate?I'm having this problem too. Different formats tried, different filesizes tried, different browsers tried... Nothing is getting my background to show!
I’m using Twitter for the FIRST TIME EVER and not impressed!
-
Inappropriate?I can't upload an image at all. It just keeps tiling one of the preset themes.
This is irritating.
I’m piss'd
-
Inappropriate?Welcome to the party- seriously, Twitter, WTF... My pic is only 119K, I've tried png and jpg, can't even change my background image... sometimes the changes show up, then vanish again on the next refresh. Heck, I can't even log OUT of Twitter right now to try to see it from another perspective.
Please, Twitter- either fire the IT guy or fix this.
I’m exceedingly PO'd. Jacob hurt little man.
-
Amen!! I'm STILL having this problem, and I've tried every picture size and format available. I've even tried using different browses. Nothin'.
