wishing Twitter's "block" option did more.
I wish that Twitter's block option gave the ability from that person to receive your updates via sms as well as the web and had the added feature to block them from seeing your twitter page. I have recently been found by someone I'd rather not follow me and I don't wish him any association with my updates. I'd really rather not protect my updates as well.

Inappropriate? It's always tough to juggle public v. private. It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to handle it.
In the end, I decided to keep my Twitter account public so that it's available to everyone, then I created a separate private Twitter account where I'm more choosy about who has access.
I know that's not exactly the solution that you were hoping to get, but it is a work-around that you may want to consider...

Inappropriate?Shame on the Twitter devs for finally caving to this thin-skinned insecure lobby that wants to be gain fans by being fabulous and in public, but wants the ability to prevent those blocked from even reading the tweets page or searching and seeing content.
Imagine if the rest of the Internet ran this way. Imagine if Dave Winer could decide people he didn't like couldn't take an RSS off his page.
The worst thing about this new "feature" is that the devs put it in by stealth without ANY discussion here on Get Satisfaction. Before, you could still read people who blocked you (like arrogant celebrities who couldn't bear if you once said the slightest critical thing to them) and could still then comment on them to them directly or to your followers, but now they show the message "I only give updates to friends" which is actually fake, as they haven't locked their tweets, and they are still public, and still visible to mere followers to whom they have not reciprocated with a follow.
It dumb downs the discourse, makes the A-listers even more surrounded with sycophants, and defines down the concept of friend.

Inappropriate?Do their tweets still show up for you when you do a Twitter Search using "from:username"?
For example: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=fr... -
Inappropriate?Yes, they show up in search, but you can't click on their name to read the page.
I remember you being quite the problem before in grasping these issues of freedom mdy, so no doubt you're loving this latest oppressive measure, but it will simply mean that people move away from Twitter, that's all. You know, information wants to be free, and all that jazz. -
Inappropriate?Huh. IMHO it's strange that they would go to the trouble of masking the messages when the tweets are still visible in search.

Inappropriate? Is there any way to block spammers from group twitter sites? Stocktwits is a really excellent group, but theres certain annoying individuals that spam constantly. I don't care if they post to the group but I do not want to see their spam. Its really annoying.

Inappropriate?I wanted to block someone who isn't following because they sent me a rude @reply to a message I sent them. I want to be sure never to contact them again, and I'd rather not see their tweets.

Inappropriate?FrannLeach, you can block any user whether or not they're currently following you. To do that, you'll need to
1. Log in to Twitter
2. Visit the profile page of the other user, which will be at http://twitter.com/username (replace username with their actual username)
3. Look for the "block" link in the sidebar of the other user's profile, and click that
As far as I know, blocking means you won't need to see the other user's @replies to you in the future, though I believe (based on feedback from other users) that it can take up to a day before old replies from the other user are removed from your Replies tab.
