Customising contents of the columns beyond my own contents
Is it even possible to get search results in separate columns, the way you advertised it in previews (like Coke vs. Pepsi thing et cetera)? I would like to do something like that for my website's visitors.

Yes you can have search results in a different column because Twitterface provides you facility to setup up-to a maximum of 3 columns/panes at a time. You can set the number of panes from "Page Options" under "Settings".
